Niantic announces the first official Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Fanfest. Just like the Pokemon GO Fest event which is held every summer, the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite event will allow players of the new mobile game to get together and talk to the developers behind the title.

The first Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Fanfest will take place between August 31 and September 1, 2019, says Niantic. The event will be held in Indianapolis, IN., at White River State Park, a popular tourist spot with a zoo, a museum, and Minor League Baseball stadiums. Niantic hasn't revealed how fans of the new mobile game will be able to get their hands on tickets, though "special" hotel rates are available through Niantic and Visit Indy, the official Indianapolis tourist board.

Few details about the game's first fanfest are available, but, if it's like Pokemon GO Fest, it could provide some special rewards for those who attend. Some suggestions are special cosmetics for players' Ministry ID card, the chance to capture special Foundables to make special Registry listings, and for attendees to get more rewards for rare resources like Restricted Section Books.

As this is the first fanfest for the game, Niantic may want to do something special to celebrate. The developer could also potentially hold another Brilliant Event to celebrate the fanfest, allowing those at the fanfest and players unable to get tickets to enjoy the occasion.

Whatever Niantic has planned, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite players will hope that the game's first official fanfest goes much smoother than Pokemon GO's did. The first Pokemon GO Fest was nothing short of a disaster as congested cell networks and technical issues meant that few attendees could get online and play the game or get the special rewards. Niantic did apologize profusely for the issues and attendees were offered refunds, but there were technical issues when they tried to get refunds too.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite hasn't been available for as long as Pokemon GO had by the time of its first fanfest. The magical mobile game also hasn't been as successful as Pokemon GO by this point after its release. But knowing what happened at its first fanfest event, Niantic will surely be doing everything in its power to make sure that the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite fanfest runs smoothly for those who choose to go.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is available on Android and iOS devices.
