With an announcement trailer being released just over a month ago, a new gameplay trailer has now been released online for developer Jam City's upcoming role-playing game, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.

The mobile title was announced just a few months ago near the end of 2017 and is set to be published by Portkey Games for Android and iOS devices later this year. The new trailer for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery offers fans a first glimpse at the actual gameplay which they can expect to see in the upcoming mobile RPG.

Portkey Games was set up in 2017 by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and the publisher announced two mobile titles planned for release in 2018. The first was Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, developed by Niantic, the developer behind Pokemon GO, while the latter was Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.

The developer for Hogwarts Mystery, Jam City, was founded in 2010 and has worked on numerous free-to-play mobile titles such as Panda Pop and Cookie Jam. While Wizards Unite is planned to be an AR mobile title in the same vein as Pokemon GO and Niantic's other past releases, Hogwarts Mystery appears to be a more narrative-driven role-playing game, casting players as Hogwarts students in a story set in the world of J.K. Rowling's novel series, before the events of the books.

Hogwarts Mystery Lets Fans Experience Scenes and Settings from the Books

While short, the newest trailer for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery does show players being sorted into the Hogwarts house of their choice, attending classes, learning spells, and interacting with well-known characters from the books. While this trailer didn't show any elements of character creation, the game has been described as allowing players to create their own character, so it can be assumed that character creation elements and options beyond the choice of house are present.

While Niantic's upcoming mobile game, Wizards Unite, likely won't release until the second half of 2018Hogwarts Mystery could release much sooner. No exact date has yet been set for the game's availability, but fans looking for news of the Hogwarts Mystery can now pre-register on Google Play to receive updates about the game.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is scheduled for release in 2018 on Android and iOS mobile devices.
