Last week, developer Jam City added Year 5 Chapter 6 to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, in addition to a magical pet called a Kneazle. Now the developer has updated Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery yet again, adding a brand new story chapter as well as a new event that will give players the chance to unlock a purple toad skin.

The purple toad skin event lasts about a week, and is similar to the game's older events. Instead of competing in teams, players are individually tasked with completing classes with full stars, which in turn earns them crests that fill up a meter. Players will get rewards from the meter after hitting certain milestones, with all of the rewards listed right here:

  • 100 coins (10 crests)
  • 250 coins (15 crests)
  • 3 notebooks (38 crests)
  • Toad skin (67 crests)
  • 4 notebooks (88 crests)

Besides the toad skin, the rewards that players may be most interested in are the notebooks. For any Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fans who may not be privy to this still relatively new feature, notebooks are used in-game to adopt special pets, like a dog or magical creatures. The downside is that these special pets cost upwards of 60 notebooks, and they're fairly hard to come by. Jam City has given players the option to purchase notebooks at certain times in the past, but saving up enough to get any pets is still going to be challenging.

Meanwhile, the new update also gives players some new classes to complete and new story content to complete. In Year 5 Chapter 7, the player character is attempting to learn more information about Duncan Ashe, the ghost of one of his brother Jacob's dead friends. It will be interesting to see if the player character is successful in his attempts to contact Duncan, and if Duncan has any important information about Jacob's disappearance or the Cursed Vaults.

It will also be interesting to see if Jam City added more than just Year 5 Chapter 7 to the game. In the past, the developer has been known to add more than one chapter at a time, and we should find out if it did in the latest update as more fans start making their way through the new content.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
