Jam City usually adds new story content to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery every Thursday, but this past Thursday was a rare exception to that rule. The day came and went without any new main story content for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, and some fans may be wondering why Year 5 wasn’t added to the game.

While Jam City hasn’t released an official statement on the matter, it seems likely that Year 5 wasn’t added to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery because the studio is still working on content for it. After all, the transition to a new year in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is usually accompanied by some new gameplay features or major new areas for players to explore, so it seems like it would take more work than the usual weekly updates.

With past years, Jam City opted to add multiple chapters to start the year off, so that may also play a factor. Plus, it’s worth pointing out that last week saw the addition of Year 4 Chapters 15 and 16, so perhaps Jam City felt as though the two chapters would be enough to tide players over until it was ready to add Year 5 to the game.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Year 5 story leak

Based on the pattern Jam City has established so far, it seems safe to say that the final chapter of Year 4 and the beginning of Year 5 will be added to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery next week or the week after. In the meantime, it’s not like fans have absolutely nothing to do in the game until the new main story content is available.

In fact, Jam City is currently running two limited-time events right now. One is called Hogwarts Rocks, and it rewards players for earning full stars in classes by giving them unique cosmetic items. The other event is a side quest called Become An Animagus, and upon completion, it will actually let players transform into an animal. Since this is a multi-step quest and it’s still brand new to the game, we aren’t quite sure how that feature will work, but it sounds promising.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fans who are only concerned about the main story content can use the time between chapters to build up their energy supply by waking up their pets a few times a day. Everyone else can work on completing the limited-time events if they so desire.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
