A few weeks ago, developer Jam City released a sizable update for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery that included a brand new loading screen for the game, featuring various characters facing off against a werewolf. There has been much speculation about who the werewolf is and while it's possible it's still someone else, it seems likely the loading screen werewolf's identity has been revealed. Please note that this article will have spoilers for the ongoing Halloween Feast limited-time side quest.

The Halloween Feast limited-time side quest in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery sees the annual Halloween celebration at Hogwarts interrupted when a trio of werewolves attack a student. Players actually face off against one of the werewolves in a duel, but the other two escape, and the rest of the side quest is spent researching their species and gathering clues. The werewolf leading the pack is none other than Fenrir Greyback, an infamously evil werewolf from the novels.

Fenrir Greyback is best known for working alongside Voldemort during the Second Wizarding War as a Death Eater. He is responsible for turning five-year-old Remus Lupin into a werewolf, and nearly turned Bill Weasley into one as well as when he viciously attacked him. Greyback's fate after the Harry Potter novels is uncertain, but he is likely imprisoned or dead.

Assuming Hogwarts Mystery is canon despite its numerous plot holes, the game is offering fans of their franchise some insight into Greyback's whereabouts during the time between Voldemort's initial defeat and resurgence. However, there are still some unanswered questions about his appearance in Hogwarts Mystery, particularly how he was able to get onto the magically-protected school grounds.

This question and more should be answered as Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fans make their way through the Halloween Feast side quest. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see just how much of a role Fenrir will play in the game, and if he will make another appearance beyond the side quest.
