One of the selling points of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the chance to interact with familiar faces from the books and movies, including Professors Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, and more. However, some fans may be wondering if the more villainous members of the Wizarding World show up in the game as well, such as the Harry Potter franchise's main villain, Lord Voldemort. Before continuing, please note that this article will have spoilers for Year 3 of the game.

The answer to whether or not Voldemort is in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a complicated one. Technically, the character of Voldemort himself never appears in the game, which makes sense, as Hogwarts Mystery is set in the 1980s, after he already "died" when attempting to kill an infant Harry Potter. Voldemort was in hiding at this time and was extremely weak, so he was in no position to be messing around with the Cursed Vaults at Hogwarts.

However, the form of Voldemort does appear in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery in another manner. In Year 3, players discover that their boggart (a magical creature that takes the form of whatever scares the person looking at it the most) is Voldemort. Much of Year 3 deals with learning the Riddikulus spell to defeat the Voldemort boggart, and the Cursed Vault players open in Year 3 even features a duel with "Voldemort."

While Voldemort himself may not have a genuine appearance in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, other characters from the books and movies make appearances. Besides the previously mentioned Hogwarts professors, players also have the chance to interact with characters like Hagrid's puppy Fang, as well as the controversial Daily Prophet journalist Rita Skeeter during one of Year 3's side quests.

Other characters can be expected to show up in the game's future years, though who they will be remains to be seen. As it stands, players can only reach Year 3 Chapter 11, and are unable to know exactly what Year 4 has in store. Luckily, players shouldn't have to wait too much longer to start Year 4 in the game, as Jam City has been averaging about one new story chapter per week, meaning it should come sooner rather than later.
