Last week, Jam City launched the first in-game event for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery in the form of the Too Cool for School event. For the uninitiated, Too Cool for School gave Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players about three days to earn stars in their classes in exchange for special cosmetic items and other rewards. A few days after the conclusion of the previous event, and Jam City has brought Too Cool for School back, this time with new rewards.
Just like the first Too Cool for School event, players have a set amount of time to earn as many stars from their classes as possible. By earning stars, players will fill up a meter that will give them rewards when they hit certain milestones. Earning stars isn't as straightforward as simply participating in classes, though; players need to make sure that they earn all the stars possible in that particular class, or none of them will count toward the Too Cool for School total.
This time around, Jam City has added some new rewards for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players to earn from the event. Once five stars have been collected, players will earn 750 coins. At 10 stars, they will unlock 20 free gems. 25 stars unlocks a new pair of pants, and 45 stars unlocks a new top. The clothes don't seem to be house-themed this time around, so it's possible that all players will unlock the same rewards this time, though that is unconfirmed at the time of this writing.
Like last time, players will have about three days to complete the Too Cool for School event. However, that should be plenty of time, especially if players make sure to fully complete their classes. If the event is nearing its end and players are worried they may miss out on some of the rewards, they can always grind out some classes to make sure they hit their milestones.
The best way to go about this is by taking shorter classes. While the eight hour classes will get players five stars, players can earn more stars by doing eight one hour classes instead (a potential of 16 versus five). There are occasionally story-based lessons that are only three hours but still net players five stars, and from our own testing, we can confirm that these stars count for the Too Cool for School event total.
Moving forward, it will be interesting to see if Jam City continues these Too Cool for School events in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, or if the developer decides to mix things up. Since Too Cool for School is based around the game's classes, perhaps future events could focus on other aspects of the gameplay, like dueling or friend encounters.
