Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery recently received an update that allows Hogwarts students to continue their education in Year 3, whereas previously they would hit a roadblock and be unable to progress the story. This update not only gives players a chance to continue the story - it also allows them to explore new parts of the game world, including the brand new area Hogsmeade.

Hogsmeade appears at the bottom of the list of areas players can explore in the game, though it has been unavailable until the latest update. Even after downloading the update, though, players won't be able to visit Hogsmeade right off the bat. To unlock Hogsmeade in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, players first need to reach Year 3 Chapter 2 and start a quest with Hagrid.

Players will travel to Hogsmeade as part of this quest, and will be free to explore it at their leisure. Perhaps the biggest point of interest in Hogsmeade is a new free energy source that will allow players to refill their energy even faster than before. This free energy source comes from tapping on the student located in the alley between Honeydukes and The Three Broomsticks.

At the time of this writing, not all of Hogsmeade can be explored in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. However, fans can expect other areas to be opened up in future updates. After all, developer Jam City has a number of significant content updates in the works for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery in the future, which will include new areas, new features, and more.

Among the new features fans can expect Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery to add in the future are romance options and the ability to adopt pets. Jam City hasn't explained how either of these features will work in the game, but fans should find out more information in the coming months.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is available now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
