So far, every new year in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has added a new major location for players to explore. Year 2 added a new area of the castle, Year 3 added Hogsmeade, and Year 4 added the Forbidden Forest. Some have been wondering what the new area could be for Year 5, and it seems as though it will be none other than Diagon Alley.

Diagon Alley is an area Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players have already explored. It's the first place they visit in the game, and it's where they meet their best friend Rowan Khanna. There hasn't been an option to return to Diagon Alley since that initial visit, but it appears as though that will change with Year 5, as the latest update has added a locked option to travel to Diagon Alley.

In the past, these locked areas have been indications that they will be added to the game properly when the next year starts. This has been true since the game's inception, and so there's no reason to assume Jam City is changing things up now. However, it's also possible that Diagon Alley will be accessible at the end of Year 4, and players won't have to wait until Year 5 to return.

This seems unlikely, though, as Jam City tends to stick to a pattern when it comes to adding content to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. For example, one major new area has been added to the game each year, just as new story content is added every Thursday. Unless Jam City decides to completely break with its established pattern, Hogwarts Mystery players shouldn't expect Diagon Alley to be added until Year 5.

Year 5 will bring with it plenty of other new content, and some recent leaks have given fans a better idea of what to expect. Based on the leaked information (spoiler warning), it seems as though the player character will be able to transform into an Animagus, and a number of new characters will be introduced.

Of course, Year 5 is still weeks away for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players, so fans will just have to wait for Jam City to share more information.
