While some fans have expressed frustration at the way Jam City slowly releases new story content for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, the studio does deserve credit for consistently running special in-game events. Jam City sometimes repeats events, but the latest in-game event for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is brand new, and includes the chance to unlock an exclusive cosmetic item.

The new event in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is called Curse-Breakers, and it functions the same as previous events in the game. Like past events, players need to earn full stars in classes to get crests, which then fill a meter. While filling this meter up, players will earn various rewards at different milestones. This time the rewards are as follows:

  • 100 coins (5 crests)
  • 500 coins (15 crests)
  • 5 gems (30 crests)
  • Curse-Breakers Outfit (45 crests)

Also like previous events, players have a limited time if they hope to earn all the rewards tied to the Curse-Breakers event. Right now there is a little over two days left for players to complete classes with full stars and earn crests, so anyone hoping to unlock everything the event has to offer will want to move quick.

Luckily, there should be no shortage of classes for players to complete and move the story forward at the same time. That's because Jam City added not just Year 4 Chapter 15 to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery in the game's latest update, but it also added Year 4 Chapter 16 as well, which includes new Charms and Potions classes that will require a whopping 14 stars total each to complete entirely. And even if players have somehow managed to complete all of the new classes, they can always replay old classes to grind for attributes, coins, and gems.

Overall, this Curse-Breakers event seems like it has been well-received by fans of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery so far. The goal is an obtainable one without having to break out the wallet, and the exclusive outfit resembles the one worn by Madame Rakepick, who is one of the more interesting new characters introduced in the game. However, some fans may want future events to mix things up a little bit instead of being all about completing classes, but whether Jam City decides to change its formula at all remains to be seen.
