Last week, some Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fans were given access to a new side quest called Become A Prefect that, as its name suggests, gave them the opportunity to be become a prefect at Hogwarts. Now it seems as though developer Jam City is releasing the Become A Prefect side quest to a wider audience, and it should be available to more players right now.

Once the Become A Prefect side quest is available to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players, they will have to go speak with their Head of House in their dormitory. From there, players will be thrust into a variety of activities that they need to complete if they want to successfully finish the quest.

The Become A Prefect side quest in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is fairly straightforward. It consists of four parts that are each comprised of various tasks, mainly shorter five star classes that require less energy to complete. Players have three days to get through all four parts of the Become A Prefect side quest, and will earn rewards as they complete each part.

Here are the rewards for completing the Become A Prefect side quest:

  • Part 1 (Coins)
  • Part 2 (Gems)
  • Part 3 (Gems)
  • Part 4 (Become a prefect)

Besides earning coins and gems, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players that manage to complete the Become A Prefect side quest will also unlock the game's first achievement, as well as gain access to the Prefects' Bathroom. However, it's worth pointing out that players aren't technically prefects until Year 5 rolls around, and this side quest is just them proving themselves worthy of the title.

Year 5, meanwhile, should be added to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery within the next month or so, assuming Jam City keeps to the content release pattern it's established so far. Besides letting players become a prefect, Year 5 will also let players visit new locations in the game, complete new classes, and possibly even add the long-awaited romance options that were originally announced back in April.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
