Ever since the announcement of Hogwarts Legacy last month, fans of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter were ecstatic not only because of the game's open-world RPG elements, but also because of the unlimited possibilities that it could potentially offer. At the moment, not is much is known about the gameplay of Hogwarts Legacy, but based on the debut trailer released by Warner Bros. Interactive, it appears that the upcoming title will be the dream game of Harry Potter fans.

One important thing that players should note about Hogwarts Legacy is that it will be set in the late 1800s and its story will be an original one. In previous Harry Potter games, players were limited to playing an established character in the book and film franchises, which somewhat limited the paths players can take. However, given that Hogwarts Legacy will feature a unique story, it should also have a good morality system that will allow players to choose their own path.

Why Hogwarts Legacy Should Have a Good Morality System

Given the level of freedom Warner Bros. Interactive has in terms of telling a unique story in Hogwarts Legacy, the upcoming game also has a huge opportunity to extend that freedom to players with regards to the involvement of their character in the overall plot. Having said that, a good morality system, where player's choices are not limited to being all-good or all-bad, would perfectly complement the story-driven open-world RPG that Hogwarts Legacy could potentially be.

According to rumors, Hogwarts Legacy will allow players to choose between eight different types of wizards, though it is still unclear what those types would mean for the game's story. Furthermore, having a good morality system in the game would also allow players to create unique characters that best represent their worldview, rather than playing from the perspective of established characters, which was the case in previous games set in the Harry Potter universe.

How Likely Is It For Hogwarts Legacy To Have a Morality System?

Based on the title of the game itself and its initial description, it is likely that Hogwarts Legacy will feature a morality system. In the official blurb of the upcoming game it was mentioned that, players will take the role of a Hogwarts student who "holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens the wizarding world apart." Just from this line alone, it appears that the choices of players will determine the fate of the wizarding world. Of course, giving players the freedom to choose their own path would also make the story of the upcoming game all the more interesting to play, given that players can expand the plot of the universe by being the hero and save the wizarding world from destruction, or a villain with self-serving motives, or somewhere in between.

The announcement of Hogwarts Legacy also revealed that the upcoming game has given Warner Bros. a unique opportunity to return to Hogwarts decades before the arrival of Harry Potter. Given this, Hogwarts in the upcoming game could be a very different place from the magical school that fans have come to love in the Harry Potter films and books. Additionally, it appears that the player's character would play a huge role in shaping the fate of Hogwarts and the wizarding world in general, given that the game will also explore locations outside of the school.

At the moment, it is difficult to speculate just how deep Warner Bros. Interactive would go in terms of giving players the freedom to determine the fate of the wizarding world. However, with everything that has been revealed so far, it appears that Hogwarts Legacy will be an immersive and magical experience for players and fans of the Harry Potter franchise.

Hogwarts Legacy is in development for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
