Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is leading off a serious gaming month in November, and many eyes are securely set on Nathan Drake's next global romp in search of fortunes, evil English Dames, and cursed treasures.
Today the game is making headlines again from Japan, where Harrison Ford (you know... the guy that played Indiana Jones) actually got to sit down and play through Uncharted 3 Cameras were running and Ford's reactions were overwhelmingly positive.
The video has since been posted on YouTube and is mostly footage of Ford's reactions to the game and his thoughts while playing it. There are also some minor spoilers associated with the single player campaign that can been seen in the video, but for the most part the camera lens is pointed at Ford's face and not the screen. So sit back and enjoy the nearly 7-minute video:
For the most part, Ford's reactions to the game are a string of adjectives such as "Unreal!" or "Fantastic!" or "Incredible!" But during the proceedings, he does manage to divert his attention from the game just enough to offer some more cogent thoughts.
"There's so much more action here than there is normally in a movie. It's so much more concentrated."
That thought probably outlines the basic design philosophy of all games, but is especially a hallmark of Naughty Dog's Uncharted franchise. Still, if Harrison Ford had trouble pulling himself away from the action we can predict that gamers the world over will also have trouble doing the same. It's also interesting to note that Ford never once mentions Indiana Jones or makes any allusions or references to it or any of his movies, for that matter. How bad-ass would it have been if Ford had said "Get off my plane!" while Nathan Drake knocks the burly guy off using the cargo container? Frankly, we think that's a missed opportunity.
The game made news recently with the announcement that it would contain a single use online pass in order to gain access to the multiplayer with new copies of the game. Purchasers of used copies of the game can also get in on the action, but will have to pony up $10 for a pass. Yesterday, Naughty Dog announced that Uncharted 3 would also have a DLC season pass available for purchase on PSN for $25 entitling purchasers to future map packs and other multiplayer content.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception will begin its anti-cargo plane campaign when it releases November 1st for the PS3.
