Times are tough for everybody for a variety of reasons, including Harley Quinn fans. Show cancelations, computer chip shortages, and a deadly pandemic sweeping the entire world tend to keep people bogged down in despair. So it's all the little happy moments that really come through for the sanity of the masses, and this one's a doozy, at least for a very specific subset of adult cartoon fans.

Noonan's, the pitched spinoff to HBO Max's Harley Quinn, has just officially been picked up by the streamer, giving fans still waiting for the animated show's 3rd season yet another bloody reason to celebrate. Focusing on Poison Ivy's one-time love interest Kite Man, the new series will feature the lovable goofball as he runs a notorious dive bar in Gotham City. But rather than trying to pull it off alone, it looks like the obscure villain has a new flame to help keep him in the air.

Voiced once again by Matt Oberg, Kite Man will now be in a relationship with fellow villain and nemesis to The Flash, Golden Glider. According to the synopsis, Noonan's will feature the couple taking over ownership of the titular tavern, only to realize that they have to pull double time in their criminal endeavors in order to keep the business afloat. Backed by Harley Quinn showrunners Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker, it looks like this new spinoff will offer fans of the series even more of the irreverent yet oddly heartfelt action of its predecessor.

Noonan's is being touted as basically a version of Cheers for villains and goons. "We love the wild and fun world of Harley Quinn so much we just had to make a spinoff and who better to center it around than the outcast Kite Man," said HBO Max executive VP of comedy and adult animation Suzanna Makkos. "Justin, Patrick, and Dean have created the perfect local hangout for Gotham City's not-so-finest at Noonan’s, where bar patrons can blow off steam after a long day of mayhem." Hey, maybe Kite Man and Golden Glider will pull double duty as a Sam and Diane-style banter-y couple.

The confirmation of Noonan's as part of HBO Max's upcoming lineup comes after a long drought of news regarding Harley Quinn. While the series, starring Kaley Cuoco in the title voice role, has slowly revealed its new guest stars, including Sam Richardson and even What We Do in the Shadows star Harvey Guillén as Nightwing, little else is known about where it will go from here. Luckily, after a short comic run set just after the end of season 2, it looks as though season 3 is definitely close to release.

Harley Quinn is an excellent indicator of how well things can go when DC embraces its weird side, and it looks as though Noonan's will continue that trend. Here's hoping it gets here soon, cause more of the over-the-top shenanigans seen in DC's unique series is always a good time.

Harley Quinn season 3 is set to premiere over the summer of 2022 on HBO Max.
