James Gunn shared some concept art for Harley Quinn in The Suicide Squad, which debuted this year and brought back the fan-favorite clown princess of crime. Harley Quinn was one of the main characters in the film, and she took down a huge number of enemies while displaying the impressive skillset that sets her apart from other criminals.

The Suicide Squad showed fans what happens when the corporate side gives more creative freedom to the director instead of interfering. What fans got was a movie that many enjoyed, both critics and fans alike. The film introduced many new DC characters into the live-action DCEU, most of whom were relatively unknown to anyone unfamiliar with the comics

Of course, Harley Quinn was generally well-known, especially after her introduction to the DCEU in David Ayer's Suicide Squad. For her return in Gunn's follow-up, she donned multiple new outfits that were inspired by her past appearances in video games and animated shows. Recently, Gunn took to Twitter to say, "Some original Christian Cordella art under Judianna Makovsky for #TheSuicideSquad. The dress was one of the 1st designs - here's a version before we settled on the red & black hair (which was very early). The beach uniform was inspired by her outfit in the Injustice 2 video game." Her outfit and the color theme were definitely inspired by the Injustice video game series, which is a treat for fans.

Harley Quinn has donned different outfits throughout her time in DC projects. Games, movies, and shows have all given the character a different and unique style. The one thing that seems to stay constant is the red color theme, the card suits, and something of an asymmetrical design to represent her conflicted character.

Harley Quinn can next be seen in the upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League video game as a playable character. The game will be developed by Rocksteady, which is known for working on the Batman: Arkham games. Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will have the famous team face off against the superheroes of the DC world, and the recent teaser provided a sneak preview of their showdown with Superman.

Of course, The Suicide Squad wasn't just about Harley Quinn. Characters like Polka-Dot Man, Bloodsport, and King Shark weren't the most popular villains prior to their live-action film introduction. King Shark made many appearances in different DC projects, including television shows and animated movies. However, having him in a live-action film was a great way to introduce this character to casual fans who may not be into comic books.

The Suicide Squad is now playing in theaters.
