Harem anime always provide a good excuse to showcase a great variety of heroine archetypes. Whether it's an energetic tomboy, a glasses-wearing ice queen, or a blushing dandere, a harem series is bound to come with quantity over quality, and the more girls that join the cast, the more variety there is for the fans.

One of the most iconic character archetypes is the tsundere, and a proper harem doesn't really feel complete without at least one of these characters. Of course, with a harem having so many different types of girls, it's not always clear who the main character's going to pick. Here are some anime where the heroine the protagonist falls for happens to be a tsundere.

10 Monogatari Series – Hitagi Senjogahara

The Monogatari series is known for featuring a large number of heroines among its various stories, including the bubbly Tsubasa Hanekawa, the tomboyish Suruga Kanbaru, and the shy Nadeko Sengoku. Each heroine has her own quirks and personality that show their particular charms.

Of all the various heroines, Hitagi Senjogahara most closely fits the tsundere archetype, although she is admittedly a bizarre one. With a volatile personality that veers between cold and passionate, she nevertheless was able to charm protagonist Koyomi Araragi into being her boyfriend.

9 The World God Only Knows – Chihiro Kosaka

Even with her tsundere tendencies, Chihiro Kosaka doesn't seem like much of a heroine. She's much more normal compared to the other heroines Keima Katsuragi encounters in the series, and their banter together feels like that of close friends rather than that of teenage sweethearts.

Regardless, at the end of the day, Chihiro is the one that manages to gain Keima's affections at the end of the series. Her down-to-earth personality and passion for her hobbies ended up charming him more than he expected, and that ends the discussion.

8 Nisekoi – Chitoge Kirisaki

The Shuei-gumi Yakuza and the Beehive are rival gangs operating in Japan. In order to keep them from fighting, the two leaders convince them to work together for the love of their children Raku Ichijo and Chitoge Kirisaki, who have fallen in love. The problem is that neither of them is actually in love with each other, and must fake it for the peace of the city.

Chitoge is a pretty classic tsundere heroine, and her initial meeting with Raku leads them both to have bad impressions of each other. However, as they continue this charade, they begin to start falling in love for real as they learn more about each other.

7 Hayate The Combat Butler – Nagi Sanzen'in

Hayate the Combat Butler Hayate and Nagi meeting for the first time

Due to an embarrassing misunderstanding that occurred when they first met, Nagi Sanzenin mistakenly believes that Hayate is in love with her. She hides her feelings of love to play an authoritative master but does not realize that Hayate does not actually return her feelings.

Despite this, Hayate does care a lot for her, and as the series progresses, his feelings of protection slowly change into that of love. While the two of them do not get together at the end of the series, it is clearly only a matter of time.

6 Masamune-kun's Revenge – Aki Adagaki

A bitter young woman known as the “Cruel Princess”, Aki Adagaki is known for being exceptionally brutal to any man who attempts to woo her. It is for this reputation that the main character Masamune Makabe swears to avenge himself by getting her to fall for him, then rejecting her dramatically.

His little revenge plan ends up not panning out when he ends up actually falling for her. In turn, her frigid demeanor towards Masamune ends up thawing, especially when she remembers their shared childhood past.

5 Love Hina – Naru Narusegawa

Naru Narusegawa is an especially textbook tsundere, with her trademark Naru Punch ready to knock out the main character Keitaro Urashima if he does something perverted. Despite this, she loves him deeply, even if she finds it hard to admit.

Thankfully, Keitaro ends up feeling the same, even when surrounded by plenty of other love interests. While the road to happiness is paved with violence, the two of them ultimately marry at the end of the series.

4 Haganai – Sena Kashiwazaki

While Sena Kashiwazaki might seem like your everyday popular girl, she's a rather troublesome character whose tsundere personality drives people away. For this reason, she joins the Neighbors Club, but instead of making friends, she falls in love with protagonist Kodaka Hasegawa.

While Kodaka Hasegawa seems to be oblivious when it comes to matters of love, it eventually turns out that he has fallen for Sena. However, to avoid the issues that would come from dating, they have yet to officially go out.

3 The Familiar Of Zero – Louise De La Valliere

Louise de la Valliere and Saito Hiraga kissing

The relationship between Louise and her familiar Saito Hiraga couldn't have started off on a worse foot. Between Louise's arrogance and jealousy and Saito's insensitivity and perversions, it seems hard to believe these two could ever get along.

However, in the end, these two fell in love rather quickly. However, this does little to change Louise's tsundere tendencies, especially when Saito ends up fooling around with another girl. Still, the two of them love each other and are even wed by the end of the series.

2 Suzuka – Suzuka Asahina

Track star Suzuka Asahina is beautiful and talented, easily attracting the attention of Yamato Akitsuki, who soon becomes her new neighbor. Despite her standoffish personality, Yamato falls in love with her and joins the track team to get closer to her.

While Yamato's insensitivity often draws Suzuka's ire, she eventually ends up falling for him just like he did for her. Despite a whirlwind of emotions and drama, Yamato and Suzuka finally get together, and they are happily married by the end of the series.

1 Ranma 1/2 – Akane Tendo

Ranma ½ is certainly a very different kind of harem anime compared to the others on this list. With the amazoness Shampoo, the tomboyish Ukyo, and the gothically beautiful Kodachi, the main character Ranma Saotome has a lot more to deal with than just love problems.

While Ranma ½ doesn't particularly end with a clearly defined couple, it's very clear that Ranma has fallen for his fiancee Akane Tendo and vice versa. While their engagement was arranged by their parents, it's clearly a match made in heaven.
