Hardspace: Shipbreaker is a simulation game in which a player takes the role of a worker in space. Their job is to scour through space, cutting through old ships and getting old parts to sell and pay off their debt to the in-game company.

Some people may end up meshing really well with the sim and take to it immediately. However, others may not understand the game at the beginning as the learning curve is kind of difficult to deal with. There are some beginner tips for Hardspace: Shipbreaker players to learn before they jump into the title.

7 Measure Before Cutting

While scavenging through the ships in the area, a player will realize that they will be able to cut through pieces of the ship in order to get bits and parts to sell. This will be something that may actually kill the salvager if they are not careful.

If the player does not look first, they could cut straight into a fuel tank or anything else that could cause a serious explosion. Luckily, there are designed points for a player to cut on when it comes to panels, so they should look around and cut those.

6 Don't Worry About Debt

Right when the player starts the game, they will realize they have a massive debt hanging over their head. Now, a player may initially worry about this debt and want to pay it off as soon as possible by cutting costs.

In all honesty, there is no reason to worry about the debt. It will be there for a while, and it would just be better for a player to go through the game without cutting costs; the main goal should be to make the most amount of money they can on each ship and hit salvage goals, to get better ships to scrounge.

5 Don't Rush Things

A player may want to try and get as many things done as soon as possible. They may want to get their money in hand, pay off debts, and maybe see if they can get some extra cash to upgrade some of their tools.

However, there are a lot of things that can happen if someone rushes through everything. For example, they could cut through the wrong panel and cause an explosion, forget to refill their oxygen and choke to death, and so on. It would just be a good idea in general for a player to take things a little slow.

4 Tethers are Very Useful

While going through the game, a player will realize that they have tethers in their kit, which can be used while taking apart ships. The truth is, these tethers are incredibly useful and will be one of the most important things a salvager has in their kit.

A player who uses the tethers will learn that they will be able to grab things that are much heavier than what they can usually get. These tethers will be great for pulling heavy objects closer to the player, thus giving them something new to sell.

3 Key Rewards Should Be Grabbed

Although a player can strip the most expensive parts of a ship out and then leave the rest, it is not recommended to do that. There will be high rewards for players who are careful in their work, slowly extracting every piece of a ship out to be used.

At first, the extra rewards will not be that much, so some players will not bother with it. However, as they progress through the game, a player will realize that it will benefit them much more to strip the ship of all of its parts, in order to grab even more rewards.

2 Oxygen Runs Out Quick

Unfortunately, oxygen is very important in Hardspace: Shipbreaker. This is unfortunate because, at the beginning of the game, oxygen will run out very quickly, causing a player to have to constantly refill it and waste precious time and credits.

Thankfully, though, it is possible to mitigate that by upgrading an oxygen tank as many times as possible. Upgrading the oxygen tank should be one of the player's first and highest priorities, due to the fact that it means they will have to buy fewer refills.

1 Make Decisions About Ships

A great many ships can be stripped apart in Hardspace: Shipbreaker. However, a player must learn to make choices about what kind of ships they will take apart, and which ones are worth more than others.

One of the decisions that a player will make is to decide whether to abandon a ship or finish it. As someone only has fifteen minutes to strip a ship of all its parts, they will need to make this decision often. A player will have to decide whether the ship has enough valuables to continue scrounging around, or if they should abandon it right then and there or get out after taking the valuables.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker is available on Microsoft Windows.
