The only thing spookier than the Resident Evil franchise is how hard some of the achievements/trophies in them are. Seeing zombies, goofy creatures, and alligators all seem cute and cuddly compared to the difficulty and challenge of some of these achievements.

If fighting the undead and taking down the vaguely evil megacorp Umbrella isn't enough for you, these extra challenges are here to test your mettle. The series has seen many rereleases, remasters and even more than a few beautiful remakes, so the majority of these titles have seen at least one achievement/trophy list, if not several.

10 The Team That Slays Together...

2009 was smack dab in the middle of the video game craze where every single release had a multiplayer component, no matter what game. Resident Evil 5 falls right into that category. The more action-heavy game featured a multiplayer mode and it's rough. This achievement requires 15 wins in Team Slayers. This requires a ton of just awful, torture. Seriously, Resident Evil 5 does not have solid combat, and the time spent playing this is better spent doing anything else, literally anything else.

9 Mad Skillz

The only thing harder than multiplayer achievements is grinding achievements. Resident Evil 6 "Mad Skillz" achievement can be earned by maxing out every skill in the game. This takes a smooth 951,000 skill points to complete, which does not come naturally during a playthrough. It will take a post-completion grind session to knock this out, which results in most people not getting the achievement. Not wanting to do something counts as it being hard right?

8 "You Are Authorized to Panic."

This is one of four achievements in Resident Evil Revelations 2 given for completing the individual episodes in the game against a clock countdown. The main difference between this time achievement and the other ones later in the list is that the countdown is on screen and resets between different puzzles and areas, making it slightly more manageable, albeit still hard. Completing this challenge requires strong game knowledge and quick-thinking skills to power through as fast as possible.

7 Don't Stop Running

Another time challenge this achievement requires you to finish all of the original Resident Evil in less than three hours. This sprint (or weird tank control shuffle) through the mansion and on your way, avoiding anything that might slow you down. It's recommended that you save nobody during this playthrough, as it shaves roughly 20 minutes off your time. The best way to make a haunted mansion scarier is to force yourself to sprint through it.

6 A Heart Of Steel

Widely considered one of the best entries (even the best) Resident Evil 4 features the series first venture into a more action-heavy game. To go with this new action focus is some harsh difficulty options, including the top-tier "professional" difficultly, which is what you need to beat the game on for this achievement. While some strategies revolve around Ashley and her suit of armor, without the "exploits," this achievement is going to give the best players a run for their money, especially the extremely tough boss fights.

5 This is Serious Business

This achievement can be earned by beating Resident Evil 0 without using a single health item, forcing a more cautious and save-heavy playthrough compared with the speedrun achievements.

Like many achievements in this list, there are in-game ways to lessen the difficulty of these playthroughs. The no healing achievements force an extra cautious approach to tackle the horrors Umbrella has unleashed upon the world. While there is a small threshold of health that can be naturally regained, any missteps in this achievement will require a save reload.

4 Save Your Prayers

Another Resident Evil 0 challenge, this one to beat the game without saving. This forces you to both beat the game in an entire sitting and without dying. Achievements like these are especially tough because there is no room for error, or you will have to start from scratch. This type of pressure is sure to cause some people to slip up.

In addition to that, it gives a deeper consequence to dying, which makes the game that much scarier to traverse through. You will need to be extra cautious of things that go bump in the night.

3 Resource Manager

Some of the hardest—and most fun—achievements force you to do some creative thinking to get. "Resource Manager" requires players to beat Resident Evil 7: Biohazard without opening the item box more than 3 times, which limits you to the story required openings only. This forces some creative item management skills when it comes to deciding what to take and what to leave. It also necessitates creative weapon choices and creative healing choices, along with skilled gameplay.

It also forces pocket Jenga for fitting the items you want and as many of them as possible. Instead of wooden blocks falling over its just a pile of unwanted bullets on the floor.

2 Just Get Me Outta Here

Also in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard the "Just get me outta here" achievement requires a brisk playthrough of under four hours, which does not give much room for error. It also forces an entirely new playthrough if too much time is wasted, which just means another slightly less than four hours run. Speedrun achievements in a stealth puzzle horror game are just a recipe for difficulty. The game's design does not reward sprinting through rooms but this achievement doesn't leave much choice to complete it.

1 Ghost of a Chance

If you beat the original Resident Evil with both Jill and Chris on hard or beat the game on real survival you unlock the Invisible enemy mode, which is what you need to beat the game on for this achievement. The self-explanatory mode requires you to beat the game while all of the enemies are invisible.

The only thing scarier than zombies are zombies that you can't see. This one takes a near-photographic knowledge of the game and where enemies are to beat it. Yet, you know how the saying goes—if you can navigate a mansion full of invisible monsters, you can do anything.
