The whole world is in a bad way right now.  The news is a relentless stream of pure misery and opening up the news or social media is so discouraging it's spawned the term "doom scrolling."

During these troubled times, YouTube channel Kerri82 has thoughtfully put together a lovely collection of smiling old ladies set to a house beat in order to soothe the pain of existence. These grandmas' joy radiates like a healing ray of sunshine as they flip out in the most delightful way possible.

The original BBC version of Antiques Roadshow, a sort of TV screensaver watched almost exclusively by people sleeping on their couches, has been running since 1979. The easy-going time filler quickly became a national institution for the U.K. and spawned several international versions, including PBS's which has been running since 1997 and picked up 16 primetime Emmy nominations.

A big "thank you" must go to Kerri Lando for putting together this compilation and sharing the pleasant surprise of receiving good news about the ornament someone's had laying around for decades.

So while the world is currently heading down the rapids without a canoe, what's needed more than ever are the happy exclamations of sweet grannies. Because sometimes everyone needs to watch something that doesn't feature a pandemic, an election, a killer wearing someone's face as a mask or a man in a rubber suit punching a clown.
