Season one of the Halo TV show leaves a lot of questions on the table. Will they get to the titular Halo Array at the beginning of season two? Will they get there at all or will season two focus on Reach instead. Based on the events in the series’ lore, it would make more sense for season two to be about the fall of Reach.

Things are up in the air about season two of Halo. As many story questions as fans have, they might also have a few questions about the events in season one not making sense. Some things didn’t add up in the end. Let’s dive into wrapping up season one with full spoilers.

7 People Running Toward The Covenant

One of the funniest and perhaps strangest things characters do in Halo is run toward enemies. In the first episode, Kwan Ha’s father runs toward a giant Covenant fighter and gets destroyed. It would have been smarter for him to keep his distance. Understandably, he was doing it to protect his daughter but it was still a bad move. This happens a lot in the show with other characters as well. When Spartans are fighting the Covenant and get into close-quarters combat, it makes sense. Their armor will protect them.

6 Why Save Kwan Ha?

Master Chief from the Halo TV show

After the Covenant attack on Madrigal, Kwan Ha is the only member of her village left alive. Master Chief extracts her, thinking the UNSC will protect her. High command decides the opposite and orders Master Chief to terminate Kwan Ha.

Master Chief disobeys the order and saves Kwan Ha instead, heading to the pirate asteroid Rubble to hand her over to his friend, Soren. It’s never explained why Master Chief has a change of heart. Since his emotional chip is still in place, he should have killed her, innocent or not.

5 The Power Of The Keystones

The Halo show plays fast and loose with its original creation, the Keystones. When Master Chief touches either of the two in the show, he sets off EMP-like charges. For example, in episode one he touches a Keystone that is aboard the ship he and Kwan Ha are using to escape from the UNSC.

This sets off a charge, knocking back soldiers about to enter the ship as well as turning off several pieces of electrical equipment. Why doesn’t the ship go down as well since it is also electrical? It seems like an oversight. This is only one example but there are many more Keystone inconsistencies.

4 Master Chief Can Take Off His Armor

One of the reasons why Master Chief and the other Spartans are so unstoppable is because of their armor. Master Chief’s armor is the strongest out of any Spartan in the series. They also weigh a literal ton. As strong as the Spartans are, they need machines to help put the armor on in the games. In the show, Kai and the rest of the Silver Team use machines at the UNSC facility. However, Master Chief takes off his armor all the time without machines although it is offscreen. He could be using another kind of machine but based on some of the places he does it in, that seems unlikely.

3 Cortana’s Clone Process

Cortana from the Halo TV show

It takes three episodes for Cortana to appear in the show. Her method of being born is different and ultimately doesn’t make any sense. Dr. Halsey clones herself in the show. She then sticks a needle in the clone’s eye. This needle extracts the clone’s brain as if it were a file on a computer. This process then creates the AI known as Cortana. Assuredly there are some other steps in there as well but that is the basic gist of her creation in the Halo show. The idea that someone’s brain can be downloaded is some high science fiction stuff. There might be more ludicrous things in the show or games that don’t add up but this has to be near the top.

2 Soren And Kwan Ha Outrunning The Blast

Soren and Kwan Ha from the Halo TV show

A whole list could be dedicated to Kwan Ha and how her plot doesn’t make a lot of sense next to Master Chief’s story. Her finale, along with Soren’s, happens in episode seven. After that, they are never seen again but presumably, they will return in season two.

They fight against Vinsher Grath and his men in the same rebel compound from the opener of the show. To finish them off, the two of them ignite the hydrogen in the plant thus blowing up the entire facility. Kwan Ha and Soren somehow find the one building that doesn’t explode. That’s hard to believe since a hydrogen planet of that size should have not only blown up the entire facility, but also the surrounding area for perhaps miles.

1 Removing Your Helmet Is Bad

A scene featuring characters from the Halo TV show

One of the biggest changes in the Halo show is how often Master Chief removes his helmet. It’s not just him either. All of the Spartans take off their helmets and armor a good majority of the show. There are two examples, of many, where this is a bad idea. In episode eight, Silver Team is given the order to kill Master Chief.

Kai, Riz, and Vannak all head into battle. However, along the way, Kai removes her helmet to try and talk her comrades out of doing it. All she does is open herself up to getting attacked. Without a helmet on, Kai is more vulnerable and does indeed get knocked out. She does this again in episode nine and almost gets knocked out by Dr. Saly this time. She was lucky in that case since he was just a lowly doctor. Still, why do these Spartans keep removing their helmets? Soldiers should know better.
