Halo Infinite officially launches in just a few days, but its multiplayer beta was released on November 15 following a live stream that celebrated 20 years of Xbox. Since then, players have been using social media and the Halo subreddit to voice their complaints regarding the current state of Halo Infinite.

Most of the complaints have been directed towards the overpriced cosmetics and the way players progress through the Battle Pass. In addition, in-game challenges are designed around performing specific tasks in different modes, resulting in a situation where team members are focusing only on the challenge and are completely ignoring their performance. 343 Industries has mentioned that it is aware of these concerns and is working on making changes that will satisfy a majority of the player base.

As a result of the rampant negativity and toxicity, the Halo subreddit has now been put under lockdown. This is scheduled to last the entirety of Sunday and the subreddit will reopen on Monday. As per the reddit post, the aim of this lockdown is to help settle tempers and hopefully facilitate more fruitful discussions regarding Halo Infinite. The moderation team mentions that a lot of insults have been thrown around, from both satisfied as well as frustrated players. It also wants to limit duplicate or low-effort criticism posts.

343 Industries has come under fire from both media as well as fans and the developer has been making changes throughout this beta period. While most people are satisfied with the gameplay, they feel that the Battle Pass system needs a complete overhaul in order to make unlocking cosmetic items less of a grind. In order to facilitate this, 343 Industries had recently increased the daily bonus XP players receive for the first 6 matches of Halo Infinite.

343 Industries has also recently confirmed that it is working on adding new playlists to Halo Infinite later this month. This includes Free-For-Fall, Fiesta, and the ever-popular SWAT game mode. A Social Slayer playlist, with multiple variations, is also being worked on, but it won’t be ready until after the holiday season.

A playlist only containing Slayer has been at the forefront of player demands, as aside from Ranked and Big Team Battle, Halo Infinite launched with only Quick Play, an all-encompassing playlist that also includes various objective-based game modes. This is a stark contrast to previous Halo games where players were allowed to freely select from different variations within game modes.

Halo Infinite releases for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on December 8.
