Canadian Xbox 360 owners got an email today to help prepare us for the release of Halo: Reach on September the 14th. This email consisted of a Psych Exam which you can easily take for yourself. It is a simple marketing tool, of course, to help ‘psych’ us up for the new game, implying that attack is imminent, and we must take the evaluation to see what role we will play on Noble Team.

The questions are simple, although I do wish there were some different options in the multiple choice part. There is even a little video clip to help suss out how you feel about some things. You will also answer some math, and relations questions, along with the standard ‘how does this make you feel’ questions.

It was a fun little bit of marketing, and I had to giggle at the response I received. Though it sounds like how I probably would be in reality, in first person shooters, I am more likely to grab a sniper rifle and climb a nice tall tower and hunker down, regardless of team. Then again, Halo Reach might have me playing a little different.  No matter what answer you get, the bottom line is this is just marketing. Take a look at my results:

Halo Reach Xbox 360 Slim 4GB Co-op

UNSC ID:

STATUS: PSYCH EXAM COMPLETE

FINDINGS: SUBJECT MOST LIKE CARTER S-259

SUBJECT VS. CARTER S-259

LIKE CARTER S-259, YOU'RE A NATURAL LEADER. YOU INSPIRE CONFIDENCE IN YOUR TROOPS, AND THEY'LL FOLLOW YOU INTO HELL AND BACK–WHICH IS PRETTY MUCH WHERE YOU'RE HEADED. YOU STRATEGIZE EVERY KILL, AND LEAVE NO TERRAIN UNEXPLORED OR SQUAD MEMBER UNACCOUNTED FOR. YOU PUT THE NEEDS OF YOUR TEAM AHEAD OF EVERYTHING ELSE–EXCEPT THE MISSION–AND UNSC CAN COUNT ON YOU TO MAKE LEVELHEADED DECISIONS EVEN WHEN UP AGAINST IMPOSSIBLE ODDS.

AND THE ODDS ARE JUST THAT, SOLDIER–IMPOSSIBLE. BUT IF ANYONE CAN DO IT, YOU CAN.

No surprise, it has Twitter and Facebook integration, and when I tweeted out it included the hash tag #HaloPsych for added marketing goodness. The Halo hype machine never fails to impress, and I am sure there will be long line ups at all the big brick and mortar stores all over North America on launch night. I mean, its Halo! Even with some copies leaking out early, the anticipated turn out is just one word: epic.

So take the exam, and tell us who are you most like? Let us know, are you excited for Halo Reach? Will you be at a midnight launch? Share with us your best Halo stories!
