Halo: Reach - The Battle Begins Trailer

Halo Reach The Battle Begins Trailer

Cinematic. Gorgeous. Haunting. These are just a few of the words that can be used to describe the brand new Halo: Reach trailer. It's something of a given that Bungie's last go round with the Halo universe will be be a huge sales success. What the trailer makes clear is that Reach may be a genuinely amazing game, as well.

Microsoft describes the trailer as follows:

"Featuring a stirring sample of the original score by famed 'Halo' composer Marty O’Donnell, the breathtaking trailer showcases several dramatic sequences from the game, including the Covenant invasion of the planet Reach and Noble Team’s effort to take the fight from the planet’s surface to space."

Time to see for yourself. Take a look at The Battle Begins, the brand new trailer for the biggest game of the Fall, Halo: Reach.

Is it just me, or does the score for the Reach trailer recall some of Bear McCreary's work on Battlestar Galactica?

The trailer really brings the aesthetic differences between Reach and the previous Halo games into focus, and I have to say, I'm thoroughly impressed by the look of the new game. Though several parts of the trailer are clearly from in-engine cutscenes, there is simply no denying the cinematic quality that Bungie has brought to Reach's visuals. Here's hoping that they have found a way to bring that level of presentation to the player controlled portions of the game, as well.

We are currently only seven weeks away from playing Halo: Reach for ourselves, and from the release of the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo: Reach Bundle. Personally, I am anticipating Reach more than I have any other Halo game. The massively enhanced graphics and animation, the more explicit sci-fi focus (space battles!), and the return of Firefight mode have all conspired to get me totally hooked.

Post Reach, I have a lot of interest in whatever Bungie does next, and I can't help but be curious about what 343 Industries are going to do with Halo 4.

Ranters, how excited are you for Halo: Reach? What do you think of the new trailer?

Halo: Reach falls September 14, 2010, exlusively on the Xbox 360.
