The new multiplayer mode has been titled “Invasion” and will only take place on the map “Boneyard” – which will apparently feature tons of vehicles.
The mode is said to be similar to that of Battlefield: Bad Company 2’s “Rush” mode – with multi-tiered level unlocks that appear in three phases. These level unlocks generate different weapons and vehicles for each tier.
The footage also reveals two brand new weapons that have never been seen before in the Halo universe: the human grenade launcher (human version of the brute shot) and the plasma launcher (a different spin on Halo 3’s Covenant plasma launcher).
Bungie’s Chris Carney was also asked about the possibility of Halo 3: ODST’s “Firefight” mode making an appearance in Reach. Though he wouldn’t give a solid answer, he instead said that he’s “not sure what those guys have planned.”
However, he did confirm that it wouldn’t be in the Halo: Reach beta if it were to come at all.
More information on Reach’s multiplayer modes and options will hit us when the Halo: Reach beta releases on May 3rd – with story elements set to be discussed later at this year’s E3.
What do you think of the upcoming Halo: Reach beta? Would you like to see “Firefight” return?
