Halo Forge Mode

After a spring full of Halo rumors and potential leaks, Halo: The Master Chief Collection has officially been confirmed for a November 11 release on the Xbox One. The massive collection will include all four numbered Halo games and beta access to Halo 5 for just $59.99. In addition the the many other classic items, features, and maps that are coming to the Xbox One with the original four games this November, the fan-favorite map creation mode will also be included.

There was no mention or appearance of the multiplayer customization mode in the official Master Chief Collection reveal presentation earlier this week, which left many gamers curious about whether or not it would be accessible. Joystiq spoke to 343 Industries Franchise Development Director Frank O'Connor about Forge Mode's absence from the presentation and he confirmed that the developers have not forgotten about Forge mode...

"We're going to have it," O'Connor says... It's just a matter of deciding where it goes. We're still evaluating."

O'Connor went on to explain that that preservation of the original gameplay experience for all games included in the bundle is incredibly important to the team. Assuming the new version of Forge Mode runs like the classic, fans can expect to have the ability to drop in-game assets into an empty, sandbox-style multiplayer map to create totally original competitive environments.

In addition to the original features and capabilities, O'Connor says that the team is also exploring options that would allow players to Fileshare their creations. The goal of the Fileshare would be to have a home-base for fans to share screenshoots, gameplay clips, and Forge creations. The ability to show off and share creations with friends and the rest of the Halo community should offer great motivation to get more players diving into the limitless creations in Forge.

Unfortunately for the dedicated Halo community on the Xbox 360, it doesn't sound like there will be any way to move Forge creations from that console to the Xbox One.

Another new feature coming to the classic games in the Master Chief Collection is the ability to sort gameplay chunks into playlists. The playlists will give player the ability to experience the games through a series of particular filters. For example, maybe one playlist will include all missions that make use of the Ghost vehicle. The playlist mode seems like it could lead to a lot of fun and we look forward to hearing more details about it as November approaches.

Would the inclusion of Forge and a way to share your creations increase your motivation to pick up the Master Chief Collection? Let us know in the comments.
