343 Industries is turning to fans for feedback on what features they hope to see updated in Halo: Master Chief Collection. In January, the studio announced the game's update project and voiced its desire to hear from the Halo community.

In the update announcement post, 343 re-established its goals for Halo: Master Chief Collection and reinforced its desire to engage with Halo fans by actively seeking their input and feedback throughout the update project:

"With this project in particular we are excited to foster a new relationship with our fans - one that is built on transparency, honesty, and consistency. We've been working to change how we communicate externally as well as internally, while also improving how we listen and process feedback. This partnership is built on two-way communication and throughout this project you can expect regular updates straight from the trenches with an open, honest look at the successes and challenges of a project as ambitious and complicated as MCC."

After a new forum post on Wednesday, it seems the studio is following through with this promise to rebuild its relationship with fans. The studio posed this question to the massive Halo community: If you could add any one new feature to MCC, what would it be and why?

343 made it clear that the discussion of features was not necessarily a "promise or a commitment to implement any of these ideas," but rather an exercise to better understand what the community wants out of the game. For clarity, the studio noted what kinds of features are already in the works for the game, such as networking and online improvements, dedicated servers for all matchmade games, and visual enhancements for Xbox One X.

Here's a look at some of the top requests from the Halo community at the time of this writing:

  • More armor customization
  • Adding a server for multiplayer firefight co-op for Halo 3: ODST
  • Re-skinning the menu UI
  • Custom games browser
  • An XP progression/ranking system

After its release in 2014, Halo: Master Chief Collection received positive reviews for the graphically improved single-player campaign, but had some serious flaws when it came to the online multiplayer portion of the game. From the beginning, MCC players were riddled with server problems and connectivity/matchmaking issues. Some improvements have been seen in updates and patches in the last few years, but the initial damage was great and left many frustrated players with a bitter taste in their mouths.

Hopefully, 343's new commitment to its relationship with the Halo community will lead to a successful update for Master Chief Collection so that players can fully enjoy the original games, campaign and online, in the lag-less glory they deserve.
