All good things must come to an end, as Halo: The Master Chief Collection's upcoming Season 8 will be its last. The final season begins next week, and will see a host of new cosmetics and features added to the title for players to discover.

343 Industries' popular compilation title includes the first six games in the long-running Halo series, including the anniversary additions of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4. The Master Chief Collection is currently winding down its Season 7, which added various things like quit bans and new Elite armor.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection Season 8's theme is titled as "Mythic." Featuring a medieval theme, players will be able to unlock armor sets inspired by ancient warriors of bygone eras. The styles are modeled after classic warrors like medieval knights, viking warriors, and even the ancient Greek Spartans for which the UNSC elite soldiers are named after. 343 has also released a trailer ahead of Season 8's launch, which features a Pelican in the middle of what looks like an ancient coliseum, coupled with the narration of Frank O'Connor, the Halo series' longtime Franchise Development Director.

Beyond the fresh set of ancient warrior-inspired cosmetics, Halo: The Master Chief Collection's Season 8 will include a new map for Halo 3 named Icebox. Icebox is actually a reworked version of the Turf map from Halo 2, adding a layer of snow and ice to the small urban location. Interestingly, Icebox was originally created to be a part of Halo Online, the planned free-to-play multiplayer spinoff that was ultimately cancelled in 2016. While an official reason was never given, it stands to reason that Microsoft already had the idea of making Halo Infinite's multiplayer free-to-play, despite being years away from completing development.

In addition to new information being revealed about Halo: The Master Chief Collection, so too is info regarding Halo Infinite's content. One of the biggest features noticed during the recent multiplayer preview for the highly anticipated title is a dynamic damage system for vehicles. Looking to add more realism to Halo Infinite's combat, the new feature shows visible damage directly in the area where players shoot at a vehicle. The detail is likely one of many fans will discover once the game is released later this year.

Although Season 8, which begins October 13, will be the last fully-fledged season for the game, 343 Industries has stated Halo: The Master Chief Collection will still receive support in 2022. Between the two titles, there should be a seemingly infinite amount of Halo content in the near future.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
