343 Industries reveals how it finds and learns about bugs in the Halo: The Master Chief Collection before it is able to fix them. Fans found themselves complaining when a new Halo: The Master Chief Collection update added several major issues, but this may reassure those who have concerns about 343's bug-fixing process.

In a new Halo: The Master Chief Collection development update, 343 Industries offered fans a huge amount of information about how a bug gets zapped. The first step is to find out about a bug and this comes through community contact, the official Halo Support channel, or through quality assurance testers.

Social media sites such as Twitter, Discord, and Reddit are often where the community team will hear about a bug first, said the post, and the community team will then do research to find out how serious the bug is, and will try to push players to report it to Halo Support. A quick look at social media shows how vocal and supportive the Halo community can be, so it's no surprise to hear that they are an important part of fixing the game.

Once a bug has been found, an investigation takes place and testers are given a new build of the game that has a fix. What may happen is that this bug fix may cause other bugs, which is what happened with a Halo: The Master Chief Collection update this month. These bugs will also have to be filed by the testers. Once these bugs are fixed, release testing then begins where the build of the game is tested to see that no new critical bugs are being identified.

This sort of testing can take two weeks, said the post, because of the size of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection. 343 Industries only added Halo 2 to the Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC last month, giving it more potential ways for a PC bug fix to go wrong. It can also take three days for the update to pass through certification and then another week for it to be made available to players.

The lengthy process that the Halo: The Master Chief Collection has to go through may be hugely disappointing for those who are waiting to play Halo 3 on PC. Halo 3 enters PC testing this month, but if there are a lot of bugs in the game, it could be a long wait until it's available to everyone.

However, it also shows fans why there are so many issues with Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC. The development team has to go through a lot of information and different PC builds and this can create more bugs that the testing team started with.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available on PC and Xbox One.
