Halo is one of the most beloved and recognizable video game series ever created. Even for people who have never picked up a controller before, odds are they are likely at least aware of what Halo is following its success under Bungie and 343 Industries, as well as it's main character. Today, March 7, marks the birth date of Halo's main character: the Master Chief.

Since his landmark debut in Halo: Combat Evolved, the Master Chief has gone on to become nothing short of a video game icon. His character design, voice, and how he interacts with the world of Halo relative to its other characters has caused him to become an incredibly likable and memorable character to many in the gaming community. Now, the official Halo Twitter account has given fans of the character cause to celebrate.

In the fictional world of Halo, March 7 marks the day that the Master Chief was born. Despite the fact that the Chief isn't technically born until the year 2511, it's still a nice way to honor the character. As a way of celebrating, the official Twitter page for Halo posted a birthday message for the Chief and a multitude of fans are wishing the Master Chief a Happy Birthday.

It's amazing how far Master Chief's character has come since Halo: Combat Evolved. There's even been serious consideration for Master Chief joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, or at the very least, Xbox is supportive of the idea. Though, it has admittedly been quite some time since the gaming community has seen his character in action.

Halo 5: Guardians was released over five years ago, and while the development of Halo Infinite is still ongoing, there haven't been any clear signs of when fans can expect the game to be finished. Then again, for how lengthy the delay of Halo Infinite was, it seems clear that 343 Industries wants to get this game right more than anything.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds in terms of Halo. As far as what has been shown of Halo Infinite already, a lot of fans are very excited to see the direction that Microsoft and 343 Industries takes with this game. Given how long it's been since a new installment, it feels like there's a lot of new things in store for the series. Only time will tell if 343 Industries manages to deliver on this new Halo installment.
