It's well known around the video gaming world that Halo Infinite launched without several features and story beats that were once intended to be included in the main campaign. Now it appears that a toy has surfaced at retailers that might be tipping off at least one bit of content that was left out of Halo Infinite, at least for now.

In the lead-up to the final release of the latest installment in the franchise, there have been a lot of reports about what did and didn't make the cut in Halo Infinite on launch day. In an apparent effort to make sure that the game's release didn't need to be delayed, 343 developers decided to leave things out of the launch version of the game. Some of what was cut has been promised to be added back at a later date. It's unclear if the existence of this toy means that there are more story beats that could surface later, or whether it symbolizes something that will be left on the cutting room floor.

Reddit user Iso_Didact posted a picture of the toy they purchased at Target. Billed as an "Armament Blaster," the toy gun is one that hasn't been seen yet by anyone who has played Halo Infinite. While there were plenty of jokes among the other posters at first when the user asked just what this gun might be, it was clear that no one knew exactly what it was or who it belonged to in the game.

Several users pointed out that the gun looks quite a bit like the elemental gun that Peter Quill uses in Guardians of the Galaxy. Another Reddit user guessed that it might be a design for a gun that was going to be used by a specific kind of enemy but was eventually replaced by another gun.

They posited the toy gun was supposed to be the weapon type for the smaller Sentinel in Halo Infinite but that it was eventually replaced by their shock rifles. Other users agreed that the shock rifles looked out of place with those smaller enemies, as shock weapons are not traditionally the kind of guns forerunners employ.

Other users claimed that this particular weapon was in fact, found by data miners who confirmed it was cut from the original game. The question now, of course, is whether or not 343 has any plans to incorporate the weapon the toy gun is based on back into the game at some point.

Halo Infinite is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
