After launching earlier than expected, fans have had plenty of time to work through the first season for Halo Infinite multiplayer. It can be said that following the beta period prior to the game's official December 7 launch last year, 343 Industries has learned a lot about the game and those that play it. Halo Infinite has seen plenty of changes over these past few months, adding new limited timed events like Cyber Showdown as well as updates for various bugs and issues.

Through this evolution, there has been plenty of growing pains for the community, especially with how Halo Infinite handles microtransactions with its in-game store. The extended season, numerous technical issues and lack of meaningful content updates have left many in the Halo Infinite community frustrated and out of patience. 343 Industries is well aware of how the community is feeling, with community manager Brian Jarrard acknowledging the state of the game and asking fans for more time.

Help may soon be on the horizon as 343 Industries has started to reveal more details for the rapidly approaching second season of Halo Infinite multiplayer called Lone Wolves. The new season features a new story component focusing on a group of Spartan warriors called the Lone Wolves. In addition to the cinematics, the multiplayer side of Halo Infinite is getting plenty of new content as well including a new Battle Pass, two new maps, and a slew of new game modes.

Earlier today, 343 Industries gave fans a preview of these three new game modes, which includes the fan favorite King of the Hill. Similar to other games, King of the Hill pits two teams against once another as they attempt to hold a spot on the map before it is captured and moves to a new spot.

Land Grab adds three neutral zones around the map, which is then locked when captured by a player and earning the team 1 point. When all three are captured, a short intermission happens before three neutral zones respawn to start the process again. The game ends when one team reaches 11 points first.

The final Halo Infinite Season 2 mode is called Last Spartan Standing and as expected, this is a pure survival mode. Up to 12 players fight in a free for all match on a Big Team Battle map with a confined loadout and only 5 respawns. Getting a kill in the match grants the player an upgrade and the match ends when only one player is left standing. With no weapons to scavenge and an upgrade path by being aggressive, 343 hopes that players won't be left camping various corners of the map.

While the influx of new content will likely please many in the community who felt that season 1 had gotten a bit stale, one of the biggest components of Lone Wolves is how much fan feedback has been incorporated. This includes a massive update to the game's sandbox and weapon balancing alongside a host of bug fixes. 343 also appears to be making changes to Season Pass progression as well as Spartan customization, two elements which have been a sore spot for the community.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
