Update 7/24 - A Microsoft spokesperson has provided Game Rant with the following statement: "Halo Infinite campaign and multiplayer will be shipping together at launch, ensuring our players get the full experience."

Original story follows.

Multiplayer has always been a huge part of the Halo series, with Halo: Combat Evolved considered to be one of the most important multiplayer games ever made. A new rumor suggested that Halo Infinite would not launch with multiplayer but it turns out this rumor is false.

Halo Infinite is thought to be one of the tentpoles for the launch of Microsoft’s newest console, the Xbox Series X. Xbox fans everywhere tuned in to the recent Xbox Games Showcase to witness the first look at Halo Infinite’s campaign. To developer 343 Industries’ dismay, many of the fans are busily criticizing the graphics of Halo Infinite instead of celebrating the new installment in the franchise. A rumor was circulating briefly that may have crushed Halo fans, but it appears fans don’t need to worry.

A rumor suggested that Halo Infinite would not launch with a multiplayer mode this Fall. Fans who caught the news had been getting pretty upset across social media. Thankfully, 343 Industries Community Director Brian Jarrard confirmed that this is merely a rumor and is totally false. Without going into more detail, Jarrard simply states that the rumor in the tweeted video is not true.

There is already plenty of mixed reactions surrounding Halo Infinite, any more bad news may just sour the whole fan base. Fans have been verbally unhappy with the appearance of the game and critical of how the environments look overall. If Halo Infinite had planned to ship without a multiplayer mode, it may have sent the fan base into a total meltdown. But, for now, it appears that the complaints about Halo Infinite remain the appearance of the game and fans do not have to worry about the game shipping with only a campaign mode.

One positive thing to note is that Halo Infinite will support 4-player split-screen for people looking to play with friends locally. 343 Industries confirmed this across various post-Xbox Games Showcase interviews but failed to mention if the 4-player split-screen would be for the campaign or for multiplayer.

Halo Infinite is scheduled to release this holiday for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
