Unconfirmed reports have indicated that Microsoft will reveal the next Xbox family of consoles at E3 2019. It's also expected that Halo Infinite will have a proper unveiling at the show as well, where its expanded RPG elements will be shown off as well as its general gameplay features. And if these reports are to be believed, then fans can expect Halo Infinite to be a launch title for the next Xbox.

Halo game hasn't launched with an Xbox console since Halo: Combat Evolved on the original Xbox, and could be a sign that Microsoft is looking to make up for mistakes it made with the Xbox One. With Halo being Xbox's flagship franchise, Microsoft can come out of the gate with a high quality exclusive that will have widespread appeal and potentially be a system-selling title.

While reports indicate that Halo Infinite will be a launch title for the next Xbox, it seems that the game will ultimately end up being a cross-generation release. Apparently it's also on deck for the Xbox One as well, so even those who don't upgrade to next-generation hardware right away should still be able to experience Master Chief's newest adventure.

As for what Halo Infinite will have in store for Master Chief, that remains to be seen. The aforementioned RPG elements have been teased in the past, and we know that the game will support 4-player split-screen after the feature was unfortunately absent from Halo 5. It's also being created using an entirely new engine that 343 built from the ground-up, which will be interesting to see in action.

Halo Infinite new Master Chief design

Past rumors have indicated that Halo Infinite could feature open world elements or may even have a staggered release for its content. One report has claimed that the story campaign for Halo Infinite will be available at some point later this year, whereas those wanting to play the multiplayer will have to wait until 2020. Like most of the other information we've heard about Halo Infinite so far, that hasn't been confirmed or denied by Microsoft, so fans should take it with a grain of salt.

Hopefully more concrete information on Halo Infinite comes at E3 2019 in June.
