Halo Infinite is finally out, at least the multiplayer portion, and it is available a month early for that matter. Since the franchise has been all over the place in recent years, many people are happy that Halo is gone back to its roots. Halo Infinite is the complete package, in both gameplay and looks so it's a good time to be a Halo fan again. The multiplayer for Halo Infinite has always been a rich experience that pioneered the industry, it has something for everyone, and each iteration built on that.

Slayer for players who really like the quickness and chaos of team deathmatch, or Capture the Flag for players who prefer objective-based gameplay that requires teamwork. Whatever the case is, Halo has something for everyone. Oddball is another one of those objective-based modes where players get a ball and have to hold to it as long as they can to accumulate points. It's rather easy to get into, but also easy to lose in, so if players use these tips in Oddball, they'll be a threat in the end.

Always Be Moving

One of the best things about Halo Infinite is how much quicker it is than previous entries due to the sliding mechanic and the reintroduction of classic move sets. When players are holding the skull (ball), they move slower and can`t use weapons, and become a sitting duck so gameplay is limited to running. Therefore, the only option players are left with is to use the skull as a melee, which is powerful but requires users to be up close to the enemy to take out.

Moving while having the ball increases the chance of survival by a lot since the player's teammates meet up and move with them. Plus, when players aren`t static it makes it harder for the enemy to hit them since they`ll have to go after the person with the ball. So if players keep on moving, they'll be able to hold on to the ball much longer.

Use Power-ups

Power-ups have changed a lot throughout Halo's history, forcing players to adapt along the way. In Halo Infinite, the mechanic has been reworked; players can now stack power-ups, and they don't activate immediately, which is great because now players can use them whenever they need to.

That little change can make a huge difference since players can now hold on to power-ups, which adds more strategy to gameplay and makes things much more interesting. This change certainly shines most in objective-based modes like Oddball; for example, rather than wasting their active camo, players can store it and wait for the person with the ball to approach them and take them out. It just makes things more strategic and now makes players reconsider using the power-ups entirely.

Stay Together

Teamwork has always played a significant role in Halo's multiplayer, and Halo Infinite is no exception. Oddball is one of those game modes where teamwork shines the most.

Once the player has the ball, they must be protected by their teammates since there's nothing they can do, at least at a distance. With the game supporting split-screen, players could coordinate directly with their friends so that they help them out. Having the player with the ball running around alone is an automatic death sentence because there's not much they can do. So the defense plays at that point are easily made by their teammates. The squad must work as a unit, and anyone who goes off to do their own thing will just jeopardize the team's chances of victory.

Gernades Are Important

Players enter Oddball bouts with the normal assault rifle and pistol. However, during a match, there will be weapons drops that players can run to and pick up. Even though Halo is going back to its roots, it's the weapons that make it one of the most anticipated games coming out this year.

The grenades have been reworked from the older games, the blast radius is wider and does even more damage. It was always a good idea to utilize the many variants of grenades the games had to offer. While that is still the same in Halo Infinite, now they're even more important to have because of how tight and narrow the maps can be. If players are stuck in an area with two or more enemies, they can easily throw in a grenade and escape. Plus with the rework, the chance of a player getting a kill has increased.

Understand The Map

The maps have always been small to medium for objective-based modes in previous Halo games, so not much has changed in this department for Halo Infinite. Since Oddball maps are rather small, there's not much to remember, but players should also realize how tight these maps can be, so firefights become hectic.

Having a smaller map can work for and against the players defending the ball because they can reach the user who has the ball quickly. On the other hand, so can the enemy players, so knowing the map's layout is crucial.

One of the newer mechanics is now players can ping their location, allowing their teammates to know exactly where they are. This mechanic can develop good communication skills regardless of whether players have a mic or not because they just need to ping where they are and the entire team will know.

Halo Infinite releases for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on December 8. The multiplayer's beta is currently playable and free-to-play.
