With all of the new modes, features, and items in Halo Infinite, there is a lot for new players to learn. Winning a game of Team Slayer requires a calculated approach, especially in the ranked arena. This list will cover a few tips for those looking to get an edge on the competition. Skilled teams can be outplayed by tactics alone.

6 Win The Power Weapon

On each of the 4v4 maps, there is a power weapon equidistant from each of the spawns. Teams will want to grenade the area that the opposing players will push and get their hands on the particular map's power weapon. If used correctly, the power weapon can net three or four easy kills. Lose the race, and the opposing team will be off to an early lead.

Learning which power weapons are on each map and how those power weapons are used will be important in higher ranks. For example, the Sword and Hammer are only effective at close range. Keep a distance and kill the spartan wielding it to turn the tide.

5 Utilize The Other Weapons On The Map

Halo Infinite features a host of new weapons, each with their own advantages. Enemy players will be caught off guard fighting someone that does not have a BR, AR, or pistol. Although the new shotgun has some fans puzzled, it is a two-shot kill at close range. Similarly, the Shock Rifle is actually a one-shot kill to the head. Experimenting with these new weapons will give gamers an edge while most of the player base has no idea how to use them.

4 Stay With Teammates

Even a less skilled teammate provides another target for opposing players to shoot at. Competitive games in Halo have always rewarded teamwork over individual skill. People that try to take on an entire enemy squad on their own will die every single time they engage. Creating lopsided scenarios is the secret to dominating in Slayer-based modes. Players should try to get a few other people to play with when the queue in ranked to make sure they have a coordinated attack. Those that have to solo or duo queue will need to seek out their teammates to team fire enemies.

3 Don't Forget About The Power-Ups

The Overshield and Active Camo are ridiculously good in Slayer. Overshields give competent players at least one free kill when used correctly. The Active Camo in Infinite is as broken as any Halo game. Only people with X-ray vision can spot a player with camouflage active. Gamers should use the camo to sneak up for an easy stick or assassination.

People will want to be patient and pick the right time to attack so they can maximize the number of kills they get with these power-ups. Another smart tactic is to take damage before equipping the Overshield. This will throw off opponents and force them to swap weapons in the middle of the fight.

2 Use Sprint To Slip Away

It is inevitable that players will be at a disadvantage in certain gunfights. When the enemy has first shots, use the sprint to find cover and slip away from enemy fire. When the spartan shields are down, find safe cover and wait for them to regenerate. Fighting with less than 100% shields is a sure-fire way to lose a 1v1 fight. Abusing the movement mechanics and dancing around cover will allow people to stay in the fight longer and survive certain death.

1 Use Grenades Every Time

It is crucial that players use their starting grenades before they get killed, even in a hopeless scenario. At the very least, a grenade before death will weaken opposing spartans and give teammates quick cleanup kills. At the start of a match, grenades should be used to keep opposing players away from the power weapon. Just the threat of a grenade will force the opposition to back off. In general, grenades play a massive role in the competitive arena.

With just one accurate grenade, an enemy will be one-shot or one melee from death. Grenades should be used early and often in Slayer modes. One final tactic beginners should learn is how to bank shot or stall the grenades when enemies are pushing. Ricochet the grenade off the wall to reach hidden areas and throw the grenade directly down to stall it and weaken aggressive foes.
