Microsoft's 2021 has been a year to remember for the gaming juggernaut celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Xbox. Between the recent record-breaking launch of Forza Horizon 5 and the bevy of celebrations Microsoft has put on to celebrate its iconic gaming brand, Microsoft has used the whole of 2021 as a tribute to Xbox and many of its most popular franchises. However, likely the most highly anticipated of Xbox's 20th anniversary is the long-awaited release of Halo Infinite, a game fans have been waiting for since it was announced during 2018's E3.

Many fans of the Halo franchise have already gotten their first taste of Halo Infinite as the game's multiplayer beta officially launched earlier this month alongside Xbox's 20th Anniversary broadcast. While the next entry in the Halo series won't fully release until next week, the multiplayer beta has already seen massive popularity among fans with Steam's concurrent player total for the game already eclipsing 200,000. Now, with the full release less than two weeks away, Microsoft has released a dramatic live-action trailer for Halo Infinite.

The newest trailer for Halo Infinite, titled "Forever We Fight", debuted on Sunday through the Xbox YouTube channel and depicts conflicts spanning across several time periods. Within the jumping scenes, the trailer features a shepherd defending his pack of lambs from hungry wolves, revolutionaries taking up arms to fight for their freedom, and a futuristic setting filled with remote-operated drones and interstellar travel. The trailer's penultimate scene sets Master Chief battling hordes of enemies, set alongside the many different scenes throughout the trailer.

The newest trailer joins another recent Halo Infinite trailer animated in CGI as Microsoft is building excitement among fans for the game's upcoming release. Halo Infinite's beta has already attracted significant praise for its gameplay from fans, though the game has also garnered criticism for its monetization model. Some fans have even called for a boycott of the game's item shop in protest of the game's increased focus on microtransactions.

Halo Infinite will look to serve as the pinnacle of a year that has seen Microsoft proudly honor its twenty-year-old gaming brand. The gaming giant has hosted several giveaways over the course of 2021 ranging from consoles to controllers and even partnering with Discord to give away Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions. With Microsoft's most highly-anticipated title coming near the end of the year, Microsoft will enter its third decade in the same way as its first, with Halo as the crown jewel of the Xbox empire.

Halo Infinite will release for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on December 8. The multiplayer beta is available now.
