With less than a month to go until release, a new live-action trailer for Halo Infinite has surfaced on the official Halo Twitter page. Acting as an in-universe UNSC Archive transmission, the video portrays what happened when a group of colonial miners volunteered to extract ore to be used to enhance Master Chief's armor, all while a cave is collapsing around them.

At a little over 3 minutes long, the Halo Infinite trailer has a grim and ominous tone, as it showcases a group of miners trapped beneath the rubble of a cave. With seemingly no way out, one miner starts singing in a way that implies that he and the group have come to terms with the fact that this is where they likely spend their last moments alive. The miners look to each other with equal parts pain and serenity as they wait for the inevitable final collapse of the tunnel.

The trailer ends with rubble coming away above the miners and light shining through indicating something or someone has come to rescue them, likely Master Chief himself. The camera then shines on the wall one of the miners had been scratching words into: "From The Soil, To The Stars." The video is a great look at the plight of the normal people in this neverending galactic war, selflessly doing whatever it takes to get Master Chief what he needs to conquer his foes in Halo Infinite.

This trailer comes at a time when excitement for Halo Infinite is reaching a fever-pitch, with new impressions from the press detailing the beginning of the story campaign, as well as mounting evidence that Halo: Infinite's multiplayer component could be releasing before the title's expected launch of December 8th. It's possible that Microsoft and 343 Industries are looking to use goodwill from the free-to-play multiplayer as free press to bolster the marketing for the entire game's launch as well.

Halo has famously great trailers, from the Halo 3 trailer with Master Chief picking his helmet up on the battlefield in the midst of fire, ready to take on his enemies, to Halo 4's E3 2011 trailer showcasing Master Chief returning from the dead for more adventures with Cortana. Of course, it is difficult to forget the always fantastic Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn live-action mini-series that gave fans a taste as to what live-action Halo could really look and feel like. Hopefully, the actual campaign of Halo Infinite can deliver this kind of emotion alongside heart-pounding action.

Halo Infinite launches on December 8, 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
