In a recent interview, Halo Infinite Studio Head Chris Lee confirmed that there are no current plans for a follow-up to Halo Infinite.

In an interview with IGN, Lee commented on the new title's release, stating that “Halo Infinite is the start of our platform for the future," in reference to the Series X. “We want Infinite to grow over time, versus going to those numbered titles and having all that segmentation that we had before. It’s really about creating Halo Infinite as the start of the next ten years for Halo and then building that as we go with our fans and community.” It's important to note that Lee did not mean that Infinite will be a live service game in the same vein as Destiny 2, but that it will be a title that will continue to grow with additional story experiences and updates for quite some time.

It's respectable to see the Xbox brand take its time and focus on a single title in the long-running franchise, and not try to look ahead to future installments quite yet.

The Halo series has always tended to pace itself between installments for the most part, and has never gone the Call of Duty route of releasing new titles on a yearly basis. With Halo as the Xbox platform's biggest exclusive franchise, it's understandable that Microsoft wants to move slower with its series, in order to keep fans always eager for more.

Though a sequel to Infinite is currently no where to be seen, it's also fair to not rule it out entirely. The franchise originally came to a close back when Halo 3 was released, ending the original trilogy, yet the franchise found a way to continue in its sequel and has since continued moving forward since then.

The franchise seems to have a sort of obsession with the number 7, with it being found in riddles, scripture, and lore within the universe, not to mention the seven rings of Halo. With all of this obsession with the number 7, it would be an honest shame to never see a Halo 7. It's never too late to rule out a potential sequel.

Halo Infinite releases this holiday season for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.
