Halo Infinite is the first new entry in the franchise since 2015's Halo 5, though it's received a much warmer welcome than its predecessor. As far as gameplay goes, Halo Infinite has struck a balance between tradition and modern mechanics, something the last few entries have struggled to do. That sets players up for some impressive plays and killstreaks, including Killing Sprees. Here's how Killing Sprees work in Halo Infinite.
It's worth noting that medals don't currently affect progression in Halo Infinite, so they aren't that important functionally. So far, that's been one of the biggest points of contention fans have had about the multiplayer: there's no incentive to perform well, so it's pointless to put in a lot of effort. However, 343 Industries has promised changes to the progression system in the future, beyond simple adjustments to challenges.
Halo Infinite Killing Spree Requirements

On a surface level, earning a Killing Spree in Halo Infinite is a straightforward task. Players simply need to earn five kills in a row to get the medal to pop, which isn't all that difficult. It's a mark of players being at least moderately skilled at Halo Infinite's multiplayer sandbox, so fans can at least take pride in that. Plus, players that shut down Killing Sprees will earn Kill Joy medals, which are also nice.
However, the first Killing Spree medal is just a stop in a long path. In reality, players are able to earn 7 other medals for Killing Sprees, capping off at 40 kills in one life. The full list of the Killing Spree medals is:
- Killing Spree - Earn 5 kills in one life.
- Killing Frenzy - Earn 10 kills in one life.
- Running Riot - Earn 15 kills in one life.
- Rampage - Earn 20 kills in one life.
- Nightmare - Earn 25 kills in one life.
- Boogeyman - Earn 30 kills in one life.
- Grim Reaper - Earn 35 kills in one life
- Demon - Earn 40 kills in one life
How to Earn Killing Sprees in Halo Infinite
While there's no single trick that Halo Infinite players can use to earn Killing Sprees, there are a few key pointers that they can keep in mind to help them survive a while longer. The first, and most essential, tip is to keep moving while in gunfights. Try to make unpredictable movements from left to right while firing, though make sure to keep landing shots. It's an easy trick to learn, but a difficult one to master.
Next, try to focus on areas of the map with a lot of angles, especially in objective game modes. Sharp corners can be a good place to find some cover, get the drop on enemies with melee moves, and post up while holding objectives like the Oddball. It gives players the edge they need to earn more kills and stay alive longer, which helps them when Halo Infinite's multiplayer matches by extension.
The final tip is to keep shield strength in mind during engagements. It's easy to get too far forward with shields running on empty, which isn't a huge deal in one-on-one scenarios, but can easily cost players a life in two-on-one scenarios, or even higher players counts. Don't be afraid to back off from a conflict when shields are low, fleeing behind a corner, or some other obstacle. Don't get pinned down, but let shields recharge back to full strength before engaging again.
