The Halo Infinite multiplayer Joint Fire Event for January 2023 has been announced and will launch next week. It is the next in line of events for Halo Infinite following the game's checkered first year of support.Halo Infinite's multiplayer first got a wide release in November 2021 in conjunction with the series' 20th anniversary, roughly a month before the campaign was released on PC and Xbox. Although both components of the Halo Infinite experience were initially received well by critics and fans, the multiplayer's initial lack of content, balancing issues, and slow progression caused many players to drop off the game relatively quickly. Despite this, Halo Infinite updates have continued to release, and Season 3 of the game is set to launch this spring.RELATED: Xbox Oreo Promotion Unlocks Skins in Halo, Forza, and MoreSeason 2 had its own fair share of events such as the Yappening event which ran in September 2022. These events will continue into 2023 with the Joint Fire Event that begins on January 17. The event will center around the Covert One Flag mode introduced in last year's Winter Update and will last until the end of the month. The unlockable armor set of the event will be the JFO-class armor, first seen in Halo: Reach. Many players reacted positively to the announcement on Twitter, with some others requesting the return of previous cosmetic bundles that were released close to the game's launch.

As Halo Infinite continues into the last few months of Season 2, 343 Industries has been sure to continue adding player-requested features, such as the Custom Games browser that was released with the Halo Infinite December update. This update, alongside the previous launch of the Forge beta, bolstered the player experience as Halo Infinite players now had easier access to custom maps, a beloved feature from previous games.

The Halo series has been synonymous with the Xbox brand since the launch of the original Xbox in 2001, so it would naturally be expected that Microsoft would place many efforts toward ensuring the franchise's continued success. Many have felt that 343 Industries has continued to drop the ball with Halo Infinite, particularly with the omission of series staples like the canceled split-screen co-op for Halo Infinite's campaign. However, none of this is to say that 343 Industries has given up efforts to support the game. On the contrary, it has worked to continue adding features and support in recent months, foremost among them being the launch of Forge. It is clear that Halo Infinite is here to stay and that there will be more to see as the game enters Season 3 this March.

Halo Infinite is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
