343 Industries' Halo Infinite has spent the last couple of weeks garnering praise for its campaign story, which makes the Xbox franchise feel fresh. The game's open-world structure and multiplayer mode have also earned their fair share of praise as well. While the game has its fair share of critics, especially with regard to Halo Infinite's in-game shop, there are some people who think it deserves this praise, including acclaimed horror film director John Carpenter.
Carpenter is best known for his work on the Halloween film series, or perhaps the 1982 Classic The Thing, with many of them being regarded as some of the best of the horror genre. What some fans might not know about the prolific writer and director is that Carpenter is an avid video game fan, keeping a close eye on the games industry. He even gives out praise to modern releases, with his latest being given to Halo Infinite.
Recently, Carpenter took to Twitter to praise the latest entry in the Halo franchise. Not only did he say he had a lot of fun with Halo Infinite, but he also goes on to say that it is the best game in the series, which is a bold claim to make. The big reason he believes it to be the case is the game's production design.
Many of these responses to Carpeneter were enthusiastic, with the official Halo account respondeding to the tweet, thanking him for his praise and for stopping by to play the game. Other responses included Xbox's marketing boss Aaron Greenberg thanking him for the compliment, even calling Carpenter a creative legend. Even Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted "good campaign" in response to Carpenter's statement.
Carpenter's gaming takes are familiar to many who have followed him on Twitter, where his interest stemmed as far back as playing classic games like Sonic the Hedgehog, and his skills have improved ever since then. Some of his favorite games include Borderlands 2, Bioshock, and even last year's Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, which he cites as one of the best games of 2021.
With Carpenter's endorsement of Halo Infinite, the developers can be proud that it has earned the praise of one of most iconic horror directors in the industry.
