Many fans have been looking forward to the release of Halo Infinite later this year. With the release of the game rapidly approaching, many fans are looking forward to seeing what new implementations will be included in the game. Although, some fans want to be given the option to use a particular cosmetic feature in Halo Infinite that was first introduced in Halo 4.

While Halo 4 received a fair amount of success during its initial commercial run, within the Halo community, opinions on the game are fairly divided. There were many features introduced in Halo 4 that were not exactly typical compared to other games in the series, such as the allocation of a sprint button, to name one example. Though, some fans are calling to have a HUD feature similar to the one seen in Halo 4.

A Reddit user named Vaniellis commented on how they want to have the option to have the sides of the Master Chief's helmet be visible during active gameplay. Vaniellis argues that this feature adds an extra layer of immersion that isn't seen in other first-person shooters. However, quite a number of fans feel the opposite way when it comes to having embellishments on the in-game HUD.

Many players feel that having outlines of the player character's in-game helmet is rather distracting, especially during Halo multiplayer, where gameplay is much more intense and requires an added degree of concentration on the player's part. Then again, there are benefits to having a HUD that includes cosmetic features similar to Halo 4's.

As Vaniellis mentions in the post, the HUD embellishments do add an immersive layer to the experience that few other first-person shooters have. Metroid Prime was one of the first games to include this feature and there were even moments where the player could see the visor fog up and have Samus' eyes reflect in the visor. This immediately gives the game additional atmospheric flair, since it's able to illustrate that there's a living, breathing character behind that visor, instead of a nameless foot solider.

It will be interesting to see if Halo Infinite features a more cosmetic HUD. Based on what the gameplay footage shown so far, there still remains a less intrusive outline of the Master Chief's visor, but not nearly as noticeable compared to Halo 4. This likely will just be another topic of discussion fans will argue about in terms of Halo Infinite's toggle features.

Halo Infinite is set to launch in 2021 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
