While rumors and speculation swirled days prior, Microsoft surprised launched the multiplayer portion of Halo Infinite during the Xbox's special 20th Anniversary event. With how well the Multiplayer Test Flights were recieved by the community, it's likely that 343 felt comfortable launching a bit early, even if the current experience has been deemed a beta. With the launch of Halo Infinite multiplayer, players flocked to the online experience and began progressing through the first season battle pass.

Even as a beta until the official launch on December 8, players can both play and progress without worry that they'll be losing anything once the experience releases in full. In fact, 343 is making sure to keep the experience feeling fresh and updated along the way, already reacting to community feedback with regards to things like the slow progression of the Halo Infinite Battle Pass.

What is Fraction: Tenrai?

Periodcally, new limited time events will be arriving inside of Halo Infinite, similar to what other live service titles like Fortnite or Call of Duty: Warzone.

How Long Is It Available?

Fractures Tenrai kicks off today, November 23 , and runs for a full week before it departs on November 30.

However, 343 Industries has confirmed that this event will be reappearing six times throughout the first season of Halo: Infinite, which was recently extended into May 2022. The next arrival date for Tenrai will be January 2022. Needless to say, players shouldn't feel pressured to unlock everything over the next seven days.

How Does It Fit with Halo Lore?

While this may just seem like a special Halo event with unique looking armor for players to earn, 343 Industries have made sure to actually create lore to help it fit into the overall Halo universe.

According to 343, these Fracture events represent divergent timelines and universes. This fracture is Tenrai, an alternate reality where Yoroi suits are forged using ancient karakuri arts from the raw energies of the land. The armor is hand crafted for young samurai to help defend their clan and the lands from Covenant invaders. The various clans were originally divided and warring against one another, but with the arrival of the Covenant and their "glass dragons," they have instead united against a common foe.

Tenrai Event Pass Unlocks

Player participation will be helping players ascend through all 30 ranks of the free event pass. Progress made will also carry over between event occurances, so teirs earned over the next week will stay in place once Tenrai returns in January 2022. While the Legendary Yoroi Armor is the big draw for many players, the Event Pass is stocked with additional cosmetic and customization items themed around Tenrai.

Weapon coating like the Sol Devil and Whispered Sky will add a unique look to the Sidekick, BR75 Battle Rifle, and MA40 AR. Players can also earn Backdrops, nameplates, and emblems for their Spartan ID. Additional armor pieces can also be unlocked to further customize the look of a Spartan, including the Gatekeep shoulder pads as well as the Swordsman's Belt.

Free Rewards and Ultimate Unlock

Players who log in during the first Tenrai event will be gifted with the legendary Fracture backdrop, which can be equipped as part of the Spartan ID card. The backdrop displays the name of the event, the Yoroi armor in the background, as well as what appears to be a crumbling Halo ring in the center.

For players who are able to complete all weekly challenges, they'll unlock a special armor coating called Willow Tea for the Mark VII armor core. It gives players a different samurai inspired look from the Yoroi armor.

Game Modes

In addition to all of the rewards and cosmetics, the Fractures: Tenrai event is also bringing a special game mode as well called Fiesta. This game mode is intended to add some unpredictability into a match as it gives players new and randomized weapons each time they spawn. Needless to say, Fiesta is likely going to be a bit chaotic compared to the other Halo Infinite modes available like Oddball.

Halo Infinite's Multiplayer Beta is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with the full game releasing on December 8.
