For the last five years, Fortnite has absolutely dominated the online multiplayer market. While it isn't without its fair share of competition, especially from all the usual big names like Call of Duty and Apex Legends, Fortnite has managed to stay a cut above the rest, and a large part of that is down to the game's live-service model. The live-service model doesn't work for every game, but for Fortnite, it's managed to keep players invested long after its initial release, with new skins, modes, and weapons being constantly added to the game to keep it fresh.

One of the key parts of Fortnite's live-service model is the addition of new cosmetics, primarily character skins, and over the last five years, Fortnite has been able to bring an unfathomable number of skins to the table, with some of the most popular being crossovers from other properties. From Marvel to Star Wars, Fortnite has had it all, and two years ago, one of the game's most talked about skins came directly from Halo Infinite, a game that could use some more exposure now.

Halo And Fortnite Should Cross Over Again

Generally speaking, Halo Infinite is not in the good graces of the gaming public right now. Though it released to positive reviews, both from fans and critics, Halo Infinite's lack of maps, modes, and weapons have begun to disappoint, and that initial wave of nostalgia is well and truly gone. Since its release in November, Halo Infinite has received just a handful of updates, each one offering a paltry amount of content when compared to other live-service titles. Halo Infinite could do with a helping hand right about now.

In December 2020, following an announcement at the Game Awards, a Master Chief skin came to Fortnite. Though Halo Infinite wouldn't release for another year, this crossover paved the way for new, and younger fans to discover the long-running Sci-Fi franchise. Whether gamers loved or hated the crossover, there's no denying that it got people talking, and that's exactly what both Fortnite and Halo want.

Halo Infinite should cross over with Fortnite once again. Though some die-hard Halo fans might despise it, more Halo x Fortnite crossovers would likely yield a positive outcome for both titles. For Fortnite, more Halo skins means even more revenue, while for Halo Infinite, a crossover would only serve to get people talking about Halo again, and perhaps even try out the game for the first time. At this stage, Halo Infinite can't do much worse in the eyes of its fans, so another brief crossover with Fortnite wouldn't exactly ruin the franchise's reputation.

Just recently, Fortnite crossed over with Destiny 2, a fellow live-service title. Though it was just a handful of skins, gliders, and emotes, the crossover brought a wealth of new eyes to the Destiny brand, and vice versa, with Fortnite Easter eggs appearing in Destiny. A potential future Fortnite and Halo crossover could follow a similar format, where Fortnite receives more skins based on characters from the game, like the Arbiter or Halo 3 ODST's Alpha-Nine squad. As for Halo Infinite, it could receive some brighter, more colorful Fortnite-inspired shaders and weapon charms. To take it one step further, the two franchises could even swap arsenals briefly, with the likes of the Energy Sword and Gravity Hammer heading to Fortnite, while the Ranger AR and Auto Shotgun come to Halo Infinite. There's a lot of potential for another Fortnite and Halo Infinite crossover, with Infinite likely to benefit from the event.

Fortnite is free-to-play on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
