While the Battle Pass progression and armor customization have been a source of contention, Halo Infinite's surprise release of its multiplayer beta has received mostly positive reception. Gunplay, weapon, and equipment balance seems to be locked in for the most part, and players have largely been positive regarding of the game's early multiplayer offering so far. Any gripes with multiplayer, like the inability to filter and queue into specific game modes, will likely be adjusted before launch. However, one more complicated pain point is the game's Battle Pass progression, both with the Heroes of Reach season, as well as the more recent "Fracture: Tenrai" LTM Battle Pass.

Fracture: Tenrai temporarily disappears this Tuesday, and won't be returning until the event's next session in January, marking the end of Halo Infinite's first LTM. Player reception has been less-than-positive on the Battle Pass progression in the LTM as well, even though many players enjoyed the Fiesta Slayer game mode. Now, a more recent datamine has hinted towards what the next few LTM Battle Passes will look like for Halo Infinite, "Cyber Showdown" and "Tactical Ops," reportedly coming in Feburary 2022. Based on the leaked info, it seems 343 Industries is implementing a similarly disappointing system, but things will likely change beforehand.

Everything Leaked For Halo Infinite's Upcoming Events

Halo Infinite's Cyber Showdown and Tactical Ops events were leaked over the weekend by FireMonkey and Halo Infinite News & Leaks on Twitter, showing off some of the rank rewards and cosmetic items coming with each event.

The Cyber Showdown will reportedly take place from January 18-31, while Tactical Ops will reportedly take place on February 8-21. Each LTM has a different array of game types, just like the existing multiplayer playlists in Halo Infinite, though the specifics of which are not clear. All that's known currently is both events will feature Slayer, King of the Hill, One Flag, and Capture the Flag. Tactical Ops, in particular, will also include the Strongholds, Elimination, Attrition, and Oddball game modes.

As well as the specific gametypes that will be features in both events, the datamine also included images and information pertaining to the LTM Battle Pass rewards. Among the usual intermediary rewards of Challenge Swap and XP Grant tokens for both events, Cyber Showdown has some cyberpunk-esque neon armor effects for Spartans to equip, as well as a new pose and nameplate background. Tactical Ops similarly has a new pose, armor coating for the Mark VII armor core, a new helment and helmet attachment, as well as another additional nameplate background. Lastly, some of the upcoming premium (paid) armor upgrades were leaked as well.

Halo Infinite's LTM Leaks Will Likely Change Before Launch

Based on the leaks, it's unclear if these rewards encompass the total rewards of the Cyber Showdown and Tactical Ops Battle Passes, but fans aren't particularly thrilled by what's been leaked thus far. Fracture: Tenrai brought with it a new armor core, alongside several different paid and free options for armor customization that fans enjoyed, Battle Pass progression issues aside. In comparison, these events are a lot lighter on unique and curated content based on these leaks alone, which has understandably frustrated fans who have already been critical of Halo Infinite's balance between customization and free-to-play monetization.

Given that 343 Industries has openly stated it is monitoring Halo Infinite's multiplayer beta reception, and has already implemented Battle Pass changes previously, things are likely to change before launch. Especially considering the negative reception of the Battle Pass is marring an otherwise largely positive reception of Halo Infinite's multiplayer, 343 will likely be making significant changes post-launch. While that means the Heroes of Reach Battle Pass could receive an overhaul at launch/post-launch, that doesn't mean LTM Battle Pass rewards won't receive potentially sweeping changes either, which could invalidate these leaks, depending on the changes made.

343 Industries has emphasized that, while Halo Infinite is relatively superb gameplay-wise, multiplayer is still very much in "beta" for reasons like this. Work is underway at 343 to make changes to Halo Infinite's Battle Pass design, which means LTM Battle Pass progression issues and rewards will likely also be addressed. That doesn't necessarily mean everything's going to be fixed and better by launch day, but it means that players' disappointment may be short-term. Given that the developer was quick to address Battle Pass criticism just a few days after the beta launch, there's hope that middling rewards and progression issues will be mitigated by Infinite's next LTM.

Halo Infinite's multiplayer beta is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with the full game releasing on December 8, 2021.
