Halo is a series brimming with Easter eggs and nods to itself and other franchises, and Halo Infinite is no different. A player has already discovered one Easter egg that pays homage to one Halo Infinite's earliest memes: Craig the Brute.

For the unaware, Craig the Brute's rise to fame started actually from a place of fan frustration with Halo Infinite's initial gameplay trailer in 2020. Many were angered by the state of Halo Infinite's graphics during that trailer, with textures that looked almost clay-like and rendering that some compared to Minecraft. During one snippet in particular, a rather dopey, almost sad-looking Brute appears up close in the frame, as Master Chief prepares to hit him, but quickly, fans saw the opportunity for a meme, naming him Craig, and grew attached to the oaf. Ever since, Craig has become one of the most popular memes in the Halo Infinite community, and 343 Industries have acknowleged him itself.

Craig the Brute has been immortalized in Halo Infinite in a fascinating and amusing way. Reddit user Chattering_Bone shared an image of a rock formation that bears an uncanny resemblance to the rough-looking Craig. Sitting atop a hill is the stone Craig face, where clear eye pockets, nostrils, and mouth can all be seen. While it is currently unknown where players can find this Craig monument, there are plenty of other great Craig memes that fans can enjoy while they hunt it down.

This is not the first Halo Infinite Easter egg featuring Craig the Brute, though, another one giving much more context to the fan character. Atop one of the game's earliest structures, players can find what appears to be a concert stage, that is for none other than Craig the Brute himself. A poster behind the stage shows Craig's recognizable face from the original trailer, with information about the concert tour he is giving across Zeta Halo. It takes a bit of fancy Grappleshotting to get up to this Easter egg, though, so be prepared for some trial and error.

343 Industries did the best thing it could've possible done, which is embrace the Craig the Brute meme. Although it stems from a place when thoughts weren't the brightest, it serves as a now-funny and clever reminder of how far Halo Infinite has come since it was shown in 2020. The game having only been out for a day, who knows what other Craig references and Easter eggs in general are awaiting players on Zeta Halo.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
