Halo Infinite did not make the best first impression for many fans. With a lot of players claiming that the game's multiplayer mode was too buggy and loaded with microtransactions, those who enjoyed Halo Infinite, such as billionaire Elon Musk and horror director John Carpenter, mainly praised its campaign. While the single-player, semi open-world experience that Halo Infinite offers players was better received than its multiplayer elements, fans still found that there was something missing from the overall campaign experience.

That something, to many fans, was the addition of a co-op campaign mode. Previously, Halo campaigns could be faced alone or with a friend at the player's back. In Halo 3, the game arguably expects the player to utilize its co-op campaign, as implied by the addition of the Arbiter as the secondary playable character. For some Halo fans, then, it seemed that missing out on Halo Infinite's co-op campaign was missing out on a traditional way to play the latest game. Now, it seems the co-op campaign for Halo Infinite is finally within reach.

343 Industries announced via Halo's official Twitter account that the campaign's network co-op is still planned to arrive later this year. In 343's roadmap for Halo Infinite, it pointed to August as the time players would be able to fight the Covenant together online, with split-screen co-op coming later in 2022. With no word on a disruption to this timeline, August is still seemingly the date expected for the full launch of the co-op campaign. However, 343 is offering an earlier test flight for Halo Infinite players this July.

This test flight of the co-op campaign will be available to the public so long as they sign up for a Halo Insider account. This account does not instantly give a gamer access to the Halo Infinite co-op campaign. Rather, they will be considered for the test flight when it goes live. For those looking to hop into Halo Infinite's campaign with a friend, it may be worth signing up to the Halo Insider program, especially considering that the sign-up is free.

There are other features besides the inclusion of a co-op campaign that fans want to see added to Halo Infinite. In terms of the game's multiplayer, many were disheartened to see that Halo Infinite did not have a Forge mode at launch, though 343's roadmap outlines that this is on the way in September. Some leaked footage of Halo Infinite's Forge mode has surfaced online, giving fans a glimpse at what they will get later in the year.

Halo Infinite is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
