Over the years, the Master Chief has battled many factions that have threatened the safety of humanity. Most recently, he faced The Banished in the Halo Infinite campaign. Despite being relatively new to the series, The Banished is composed of several alien groups seen in past games. Among these aliens are the Elites, a powerful race of warriors from the planet Sanghelios. While they no longer are associated with the Covenant, they remain incredibly skilled soldiers in the service of The Banished. Recently, one player had a rather unusual run-in with one of them while on Zeta Halo.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as DefGen71 shared a video of a tragic yet hilarious encounter they had with an Elite in Halo Infinite. The incident happened while the Reddit user was exploring a section of Zeta Halo during the campaign. In the clip, the player ran towards the side of a cliff when they suddenly were shot at from behind. Turning around to assess the threat, they realized that an enemy Elite piloting a Ghost had managed to sneak up on their position.

Not allowing the Sangheili warrior to get the upper hand in the fight, the player turned around and shot at the vehicle with their Mangler. As DefGen71 pressed the attack, the Elite went into reverse. However, the Elite failed to realize that their Ghost was heading straight towards a drop-off.

Suddenly, the Elite found itself hurtling backward over the side of the edge. Shocked by what had happened, DefGen71 approached the ledge and looked down. A little way down, they saw the enemy Ghost teetering on the edge of space with the alien still in the driver’s seat. Unable to climb back up the cliff, the despondent Elite muttered, “there is nothing here.” The player then watched as the Ghost slowly yet inevitably slipped off the edge of the ring and into the nothingness of space, bringing a rather depressing end to one of Sanghelios’ great warriors in Halo Infinite.

Unsurprisingly, numerous members of the Halo Infinite community on Reddit took notice of this tragic end to the Banished warrior. With over 1,600 upvotes in less than a day, many found the encounter humorous. In addition, some joked that he had a better death than another Elite known as Jul ‘Mdama, who suffered a rather infamous end thanks to Spartan Locke in Halo 5.

This is just one of the many intriguing highlights captured by fans. Besides this video, another fan shared a clip of a perfectly-timed repulsor play while playing a Slayer match. As players continue to explore the far reaches of Zeta Halo, it will be interesting to see what other clips are posted by the community in the days to come.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
