There are many weapons to pick and choose from in Halo Infinite, and this includes different grenade types. Unlike the guns and melee weapons, however, players can pick up every kind of grenade at once, but only have one equipped at a time.

Changing grenades is essential when battling different types of enemies, as some are more efficient in lowering shields, traveling further distances, or causing damage. This guide will detail how to change grenades in Halo Infinite and what each one does.

How to Change Grenades in Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite Controller Settings Menu

To change grenades in Halo Infinite while playing with a controller, press left on the d-pad, and then choose the corresponding d-pad input to which type of grenade players wish to equip. To change grenades on keyboard and mouse, press "N" to switch to the previous grenade, and "B" to switch to the next grenade. These are the default keybindings, but both controller and keyboard and mouse inputs can be remapped from the settings menu.

Pressing up on the d-pad will switch to the Plasma Grenade, pressing right will change to the Dynamo Grenade, pressing down will switch to the Spike Grenade, and pressing left will change to the Frag Grenade. If players run out of a certain type, they will automatically cycle to the next available type. While this control scheme might be new for campaign players, Halo Infinite's grenades have become a topic of great debate for multiplayer fans.

What do the Different Grenade Types do in Halo Infinite?

Halo 4 Plasma Grenade Explosion

The Plasma Grenade is ideal for lowering shields, or taking out single, powerful enemies, like Halo Infinite's Chak’ Lok Boss. It sticks to whatever surface it is thrown at, including enemies. The Frag Grenade is a standard choice for killing lots of enemies at once. They can also roll, meaning players can get more distance with them. The Spike Grenade is similar to the Plasma Grenade, as it also sticks to surfaces, and the Dynamo Grenade slowly drains shields and health while in proximity to an enemy. It can also disable vehicles.

Finding the Boom Skull in Halo Infinite will double the explosion radius of any grenade. This makes it very useful for attempting the campaign on Legendary difficulty. The Cowbell, Catch, and Bandana Skulls also affect grenades in Halo Infinite.

To increase the Master Chief's resistance to grenades, players can find Spartan Cores in Halo Infinite and use them to upgrade their shields. This could be the difference between surviving a deadly blast or not.

Halo Infinite is out now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
