Halo Infinite is set to release in just a couple of months and looks to be a massive AAA release for Xbox. Master Chief's next adventure will certainly bring a big crowd, but the multiplayer specifically is where plenty of fans are looking to spend countless hours. As players enjoy the Multiplayer Technical Preview, some wonder about the rumored battle royale mode. And one particular streamer believes that Halo Infinite has the "perfect framework" for the mode.
Streamer TimTheTatman is known for playing games like Call of Duty: Warzone and Fortnite. Battle royales have blown up in popularity over the past few years, and streamers have benefited from games with these modes. While Halo Infinite does not have a confirmed battle royale mode yet, many think that it should.
TimTheTatman points out in a recent tweet that there has been some ongoing debate on whether or not Halo Infinite needs a battle royale mode to be relevant in the long run, or whether the mode would be good in the game. Part of the debate was spurred on when a battle royale audio clip was leaked from Halo Infinite, which made fans think that the mode was likely in development. But Tim thinks that Halo Infinite has all the DNA for a battle royale.
With the unique weapons, the varied vehicles, the success the series has already had with big team battles, and more, Halo Infinite seems to have a good setup for a battle royale. In fact, Tim's buddy Dr Disrespect has claimed that a 300 person battle royale is in the works for Halo Infinite, but that is far from confirmed. Tim thinks a battle royale would be "incredible," however.
While Tim and many enthusiasts believe that Halo Infinite is perfect for a battle royale, others may not think so. Thus far, fans seem to be enjoying the Multiplayer Technical Preview, and other than the possible leaked audio clip, Halo Infinite looks to be veering away from battle royale. Still, there is an avenue for the game to have both standard multiplayer experiences and a battle royale, which could satisfy all types of fans.
As far as the rumor mill is concerned, a lot of this feels like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone. Before the release of the ridiculously successful Warzone battle royale, there were months of rumors and leaks about a Call of Duty battle royale that would come with 2019's Modern Warfare. The battle royale did not come at launch, but a few months later it released as a standalone free-to-play game alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Warzone is now one of the most popular multiplayer games in the world, so 343 Industries would be wise to take notes, and the leaks and rumors do seem familiar for Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite launches December 8 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
